Description
In a world of constant change,Ideas hard to arrange,
One struggles to find a place
And run in an endless race.
The pace keeps speeding up,
Breaking this cracking cup
Frailed by ages of doubt,
Ever filling, never draining out.
They say it’s so easy
When in truth you feel uneasy
By all the constant lies
Which hide the impending demise.
We forgot the old ways,
Once lighting our darkest days,
Now we’re in a bitter war
Crushing beliefs to their core.
Peace, honor, order, virtue,
Now removed from the menu,
Replaced by anger and hate
And mixed on a heavy plate.
Thus we are forced to swallow
A dish so bland and hollow
Which our mind turns to poison
In many shades of crimson.
Our senses are then blocked
And our thoughts tightly locked,
With no clues towards the key
That can set our spirits free.
So we wander in the dark
With obedience as our mark
Hearing the whips on our backs,
Smelling the blood in our tracks.
We toil and we sweat to build
Weapons for a greedy guild,
Now a destructive monster,
Cursed with ravaging hunger.
Life and pain are his daily meals
Served on gruesome plates of steel,
Barren lands left in its wake
Embellished in vermillion lakes.
A blinding flash marks the end
And in the path nothing’s spared
They brought the sun on Earth
To expel the act of birth.
In the end, nothing remains,
Except desolate terrains;
Once, charm and beauty bloomed,
Now, all seems lost and doomed.

Indeed, it is a very deep read, but I wouldn't necessarily call it dark. To me, it is desolate, hopeless, even a bit tragic but it is also very honest. Like something from a lone soldier wandering abandoned cities telling the story of how it got to be that way. A very good read and clever in the rhyming metaphors if not a bit dragged out in its compelling re-telling.
