The fantastic, bombastic Tree Witch Mara is well known for her ability to get Virmir so furious that he loses all common sense and blindly chases her in an effort to set her on fire. It's about the only thing she's really good at. On the other hand, this state of blind rage makes Virmir vulnerable to surprises as he blunders his way into bad situations as a part of the chase. In the comic, Mara used this against Virmir not once, but twice. Consecutively.

As an alternative to one of those moments, here Mara has tricked Virmir into running headlong into the territory of the Arcane Toad, which has decided to take up residence in her Magical Mire of Doom (TM). Unhappy with having other creatures in its territory, the beast responds as it always does: with its magical breath attack.

Poor Virmir really needs to learn to control that fiery temper of his.

Knowing Mara, probably not.

This was done as part of a trade with Virmir. He went . . . a bit more complicated and much bigger than I expected with this and its folllow-up piece (www.deviantart.com/tffan01/art… ). It's taken me a bit to get to it. I ended up just coloring under the linework to save time. It did save me some time, though it did create some problems as Virmir drew the backgrounds in a way that looks great in black and white, but left me with a challenge to figure out how to fill it in on the coloring. I'm not entirely thrilled with some parts of how it came out, but it's very small parts that I don't think will really bother anyone.
