Description
Jedi Master Shaak Ti had just finished mowing down hordes of General Grievous' MagnaGuards in the tunnels beneath Coruscant. Despite losing her lightsaber and taking several blows from their electric staffs, Shaak Ti managed to use her Jedi training and Force abilities to hold back her attackers. However, the MagnaGuards mysteriously backed off all at once, stepping away from where Shaak Ti was crouched in a defensive position. The Togruta Jedi cocked her head as the droid bodyguards slinked into the shadows."No...!" She gasped in realization as she sprinted down the corridor as fast as her legs could carry her. She reached out with the Force but, to her horror, she couldn't sense her fellow Jedi Knights who were guarding Chancellor Palpatine. With her reacquired lightsaber in hand, Shaak Ti dashed into a large, empty hangar bay; the only source of light that repelled the shadows of the darkened hangar emanated from another lightsaber. One that was in the clutches of the Separatist cyborg general himself.
"Chancellor!" Shaak Ti shouted as she saw Palpatine dangling from Grievous' metallic grip.
"Shaak Ti, my dear. You've come to rescue me," Palpatine remarked, shrugging nonchalantly.
Grinding her teeth, Shaak Ti let out a fierce battle cry as she surged forward to avenge her fallen Jedi brothers. But in one swift motion, Grievous blocked her lightsaber strike just as his forearm split into two separate appendages. One arm seized her wrist, while the other hauled Shaak Ti up off the floor by her throat.
"You're tired, Jedi," Grievous teased as the Jedi Master struggled in his choking grasp. His other arm that held the Chancellor then split in two as well, one of which plucked away Shaak Ti's lightsaber. "You won't be needing this. I've got something else for you."
Shaak Ti's eyes bulged with fright as a long series of metal cables snaked out from Grievous' wrist gauntlets.
Several minutes had passed since Grievous left with the captive Chancellor in tow. Shaak Ti remained seated on the ground in the shadowy hangar bay, tied up and gagged with thick metal cables. To rub salt in the wound, the corpses of her fallen Jedi comrades lay sprawled on the floor just inches away from her. Blinking back tears, Shaak Ti called upon her Jedi training to manage the wave of grief and shame that threatened to consume her.
There is no death; there is the Force.
The echoing sound of footsteps snapped Shaak Ti out of her thoughts. The purple light of Mace Windu's lightsaber seeped into the room as the Jedi himself hurried into the hangar bay.
"Shaak Ti!" Mace rushed over and pulled the gag off her lips. "What happened?"
Shaak Ti spared another glance at the cold bodies beside her, before lowering her head away from Mace.
"...I failed."
