Northern Nymph Country

Title: "Ruins Notes"

Not sure what the city was. Architecture looks distinctly nymphish. Obviously. Northern, too. Stairs. High ceilings. Larger doors. Statues have correct number of fingers and nymph weapons. At least some of them. Those on the perimeter of the cave do. Those on the inner circle seem to possess scrolls and staves. Like symbols of knowledge and academia.

The closer I get, down these winding walkways and crumbling towers, the more this looks less and less like the typical fortress. Lots of records. Not a whole lot of weapons. No mounted bows. No mana wells embedded on walls. All the defenses were at the outermost ring. Inside, there seems to be an excess of papers and such. Lots and lots of papers. Like, right now.

This desk. Sitting in the center of this tower. Main chamber. Oak. Fairly large. Covered in ruined papers and instruments. Rulers. Protractors. Compasses. Primitive calculators. Counters. Magical energy readers. And...what look like records.

Inscribed below are the contents of the first legible page I could find.

"-the incantation holds.

Max Temp: 1400 K

-Iron shows no signs of denaturation.

-Maintains solid str- (Ink Faded For Next Few Lines)

-Adjust F- (Ink Fade) Field To 2cm More Than Originally Applied And-"

Okay. Uh. Seems like this is the most recent entry. Other papers in the desk contain similar logs with shifting variables. Logs of experimentation. Okay. Just noticed a plate near the entryway that leads to the towers adjacent to this one. It says 27.

God. There are a shit ton of these.

Just counted. 50. 50 of these towers currently in here.

Found my way to tower 28. Scorch marks are all over the floor. Including all over the desk. Every sheet in there is burned to shit. I did find a charred slab of wood with one word unsigned.

It reads "Gloves".

Helpful.

Moving on. Tower 29 contains a set of armor in the center of the room along with a few weapons lined up on a table at the other side of the room. All of the weapons have seen some use, but the armor appears fresh from the forge. I'm going to try something.

Okay. Just took a hammer to the armor. Except the hammer stopped short of hitting the armor by an inch or so and then bounced off. Going to try touching it.

There seems to be some kind of field surrounding this armor. It appears to be normal plate metal. But I if I try putting my hand on it it's like it's pushing back against my hand. Can't get it any closer than I did with the hammer. That's neat. Won't try putting it on. It might push against my body and crush me.

Okay. Onto tow

I just saw something move.

Okay. Taking cover in tower 29 top floor. Clear view of tower 30's k

Something just moved again.

In the shadows of tower 30's main room. There's a giant hole where the door is littered with rubble. Something dark moved in the shadows.

There's something down here with me.

And I'm sure it knows I'm he

Hiding in tower 27. It's coming. Going to finish this entry when I'm safe.

Saw the Desolation of Smaug. Drew this after witnessing all the cool fantasy giant ruined architecture and subterranean complexes. It's okay. Decided to throw in a little story here and there. Another lazy sketch with no boobs or butts. Sorry. I'll get back to it or something soon.
