Description Pink and scarlet hues filled the sky as Kopa slowly laid down on a large rock that was still warm from the hot Africa sun. He smiled contently and rested his head on his large forepaws, gazing in awe at the scenery in front of him. He had been at the Tree of Life for about a week now, and everyone there had been nothing but kind from him from the day he first arrived, battered and bruised, looking for someone to help heal his wounds. Tomorrow, though, he would have to plan his departure. As much as he enjoyed his stay, he was a rogue lion at heart who was meant to brave the wild savanna.

"How are your wounds, Kopa?" a new voice called from behind. Kopa looked over his shoulder and saw Kion, the King of the Tree of Life, trotting over to where Kopa lay. Kion was a fairly young king -- his mane wasn't even fully grown yet -- but he was Kopa's best friend at the Tree of Life. Kion's calm, calculating nature balanced off Kopa's no-filter personality quite well.

Kopa examined his front leg, and then looked back up at Kion, who was now sitting in front of him. "Almost fully healed," he announced. "I'll probably be ready to head on out tomorrow."

This received a wistful smile from Kion. "It won't be the same without you here, buddy."

"Don't worry, my friend," Kopa said with a wink. "I'll come and visit."

"Where is home for you, anyway?" Kion asked curiously. In the days that they had known each other, it hadn't occurred to either of them to ask where the other was from. Although, Kopa just assumed Kion had always lived at the Tree of Life.

"Well, I've been a rogue... pretty much my whole life," Kopa said slowly.

Kion raised an eyebrow at this. "Your whole life?" he replied. "Like, even as a cub?"

Kopa shrugged. "Well, sort of," he said. "I was separated from my parents when I was young." This last sentence came out a little grave.

"Oh," Kion murmured, not really knowing what to say. "I'm sorry."

"Oh, don't worry," Kopa said offhandedly, waving a paw. "A couple of wandering lions took me in not long after. It was a miracle they ever found me. I guess you could say they were like my adoptive parents." Kopa then looked up pensively at the painted sky. "Though, I've always wondered what ever became of my biological parents."

"If you don't mind me asking," Kion continued carefully, “do you happen to remember where you're originally from?"

"I'm from a place called the Pride Lands," Kopa said a bit nostalgically, though he knew there was no chance he could ever show his face there again.

This caused Kion's auburn eyes to widen with surprise. "No way," he said, leaning forward. "That's where I'm from!" Clearly, Kopa's assumption that Kion lived here his whole life was wrong, but what were the odds that they were from the same place! "Say, who are your parents?" Kion added curiously. "Maybe I know them."

A hint of crimson touched Kopa's face, and he flattened his ears. "Well, I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but... I'm kind of from royalty. My parents are the King and Queen of the Pridelands."

Hearing his caused Kion, who was initially sitting in a relaxed position, to leap up on all fours. "Simba and Nala?"

Kopa perked his head up. "Yeah, do you know them?"

"Do I?" Kion said, stepping forward. "Kopa, those are my parents!" Suddenly, it all made sense to Kion. He had heard as a child about his long-lost older brother Kopa, who everyone -- Kion included -- had thought was long gone. It made Simba and Nala sad to think of Kopa, so any mention of him was few and far between, but Kion never forgot about his brother, and had grown up wondering what he was like. And now here he was, in the flesh.

Kopa's mouth flew open, and he deftly jumped up from his rock and leapt down to reach Kion's level on the ground. "Wait, so if Simba and Nala are both our parents..."

"That makes us..." Kion said.

"...Brothers!" the two lions exclaimed in unison.

All was silent for a moment, except the sound of the breeze rustling through the grass and the gentle noises of the birds twittering in the distant trees. The two brothers just stared at each other, equally thrown for a loop, seeing each other in a new light as they realized just how much each brother looked like both of their parents.

"Hevi kabisa," Kion breathed, breaking the silence. "We all thought you had been killed by Zira."

"Not yet!" Kopa quipped.

"Well, you know what this means, right, brother?" Kion said, stepping forward tentatively. After seeing the confused look on Kopa's face, Kion continued. "We need to go to Pride Rock and see Mom and Dad. We need to show them you're alive."

This caused the furs on Kopa's back to stand up with fear. He never thought he would see his parents again, and as much as he missed and yearned to reunite with them, he couldn't go back. He just couldn't. He stared at the excited smile creeping across Kion's face, and he knew his brother was overjoyed, but it only made Kopa shiver with nervousness. Being a rogue lion, Kopa had seen many scary things that no lion could ever imagine seeing. But facing his parents after all this time... there was no doubt that'd be the most terrifying thing he had ever done.

I told you guys I'd reveal more of my Kopa's backstory, and I delivered! Figured it would be more fun to write it in prose than to just explain in a boring way. I'm considering making this a full-fledged story
