Welcome to the Metro Bus Sign Series, where you will witness the bus signs combining the past with the present and the future. In this installment, we take a look at the Express Line 550. Dubbed as the Expo Park/USC to San Pedro via I-110 Express, the 550 is the modified version, where the route is between Exposition Park/University of Southern California and San Pedro, w/ the express portion on the Harbor Freeway [I-110] between the express on ramp from 39th Street and the southern terminus of the express lane [near the Gardena Freeway {State Route 91}]. Since June 2012, Metro has canceled some services in the listings below:- Portion of the route between Expo Park/USC -- replaced by the 30/330 on San Vicente Boulevard
- Midday, Early Evenings, and Weekend service between Expo Park/USC and Harbor Gateway Transit Center -- provided by the Metro Silver Line.
- Limited Stop Service between Expo Park/USC and San Vicente & Pico
It still remains as the 550, but services between Harbor Gateway Transit Center and San Pedro are operated every day; services north of Harbor Gateway Transit Center are provided during rush hour on weekdays in both directions.
