Well I am glad I could bring this oldie out again. For those who were around for my old account? They know what this is but for those who are new? This is my original drawing of Vegeta which is based on a shot of him in his SSB form from the series but rather than be just me drawing that? I decided to go for a more interesting take by doing my idea for what I envision for a Post-Super/AF Vegeta... which really just translates to me just wanting to combine elements of a lot of different Vegeta designs, starting with the colors. I opted for just standard black hair since it'd be easier to fill in and also because I wanted to do base Vegeta. However despite being based on a Yamamuro drawing? I didn't bother going for the highlights since to be honest while it is still my personal opinion that the material is fine despite the very real problems with anatomy that the guy's work has? I really have grown to not care for the highlights and pointless hair-shading. As for the flesh tone? They're colors picked out of one of the colored shots of the DBZ manga. For the blue, I believe I picked this out of an image of Vegeta from Super and the same goes for the grey on the collar of the jumpsuit. As for the grey and gold on the armor? That was picked out from one of the movie posters of Broly. The white is just default white that you'd find in your normal selection of colors on paint.net.

Now as for the armor itself? Again my main goal was to sort of combine all the various Vegeta looks I've seen or at least that goes for his various armored looks. The original shot this is based off of is from Resurrection F so of course, the armor takes the MOST cues from that and just as an aside? I just want to mention how that's my favorite armor from the series. For me it kind of did with the armor design what the First Order Stormtrooper armor did with the OT gear in that it wasn't focused on extensive design overhauls so much as it was focused on streamlining and updating the look with the final result looking like a cross between the Android and Namek Saga looks. Also when he went Super Saiyan Blue, the charcoal grey jumpsuit really helped the blue to stand out and I really wish he actually continued to wear this outfit through the rest of Super rather than switching back to his old Android Saga gear and it's why when DB Heroes revealed the Capsule Corp. armor which was basically a slightly updated version of that gear except with more streamlining and small hip skirts that reminded me of his Saiyan Saga gear? I was actually happy and found that oddly enough of all things that was one of the only saving graces of the promotional anime. Granted I saw it stiffly animated and of course after seeing my Broly my opinion on Yamamuro has cooled quite a bit so that saving grace has to have a big asterisk applied to it but I'm getting off-topic.

Actually while we're on the subject of the DB Heroes armor? It's why the gold plate on the stomach is missing the segments since it's meant to reference that look in particular. One could say it's a bit random but since the Broly movie and Resurrection F before it showed armor with this kind of look before? I feel there's enough precedence for it. Plus there's the simple argument of how this is my art and I can do what I want with it. Now as for other details I decided to add the white... dividers? Trims? I don't know what you call them but either way, I added the white bit on the chest that was on regular Saiyan armor and yet was missing from the Resurrection F gear to of course in corporate an element from his other designs. As for the jumpsuit? It's primarily the blue you see on Yamamuro's designs since I wanted my Broly movie detail to be something else but on the collar there is grey as a nod to the grey jumpsuit he had in RF. I wasn't sure at first how well this was going to work but looking at it multiple times? I say it works pretty well.

Now as for the grey and gold? Those have the Broly movie colors to reference the armor and also because I friggin' LOVE what Shintani did with this design. I mean it's basically the Android Saga armor again but it's amazing how having a jumpsuit with darker colors and changing the main white sections of the armor to a darker bluish grey and making the gold paler in tone really help to make the armor pop and give it in my opinion the MUCH needed refresh that honestly I felt Super could've used for a lot of its designs. I mean hell just seeing the short trailer for DB Heroes that had that look for Vegeta really just made think how much I WISH we had that or the RF armor in the actual series but I digress.

As for the shading? Some of this I tried to match a tiny bit with the shading of the original image but I did try to go for more minimal shading with the face to again kind of avoid the problem with Yamamuro's designs.

So overall with all this in mind? This is kind of how I like to picture a post-Super/AF/whatever design for Vegeta. No crazy segmented armor with like a hundred different colors and lights. No stupidly heavy, impractical elements, it's just a nice simple look that combines elements from his other designs.
