Description

A tense situation between the CMA Victoria (left) and the UNSC Relentless (right) in orbit over the mining planet Campbell's Landing, near the orbital anchor of a cargo skyhook. The Victoria is firing its maneuvering thrusters to align its fusion missile silos directly with the Relentless, which is keeping its bow pointed at the CMA ship. Both ships are the namesakes of their respective cruiser classes, which while different exemplify some mid-to-late 25th century design characteristics in their own ways. In the background, a battlegroup is approaching, visible only by the bright constellation of their engines burning hard to decelerate. Some of the various space habitats that make up the orbital communities of Campbell's Landing can also be seen.

The setup may require some explanation. In the Project Daybreak continuity, the rival agencies UNSC and the CMA experienced a period of heightened tensions between them in the late 25th century as the reach of the UEG extended ever outward, and its military agencies competed for funding and territory. This was based on hints at the sort in canon Halo, though it's never made explicit, and even in the Daybreak continuum, the two never came to blows. For more info, see here .

The Relentless is in peacetime UNSC parade livery, something that would later be discarded in favor of bare titanium.
