Description
For those of you who don't know, I am a huge fan of Chira, and I especially love her collaborations with Muun on Little Foolery. They're like, really, really, really, really awesome! So, since I've been drawing for a little bit now, and since I noticed there aren't too many fanart submissions for these ladies, I wanted to draw a big crossover! In this drawing, you see my two main characters, James Heriot and Audrey Malte, but I also included two or three main characters each from "Naomi and the Dream Eater", "Small Town Witch", "That Which Wills It", "Alby and the Manticore", "Last Call at the Camellia Club", "Sfeer Theory", "The Crossing", "Daniele and the Lion", and "Ravencloak".
For "Naomi", I drew the titular heroine, Adrienne, and Serra. The hard part for drawing characters with black hair is that I use markers for this, so I have to somehow distinguish the marker from the inks which I use for outlines. Otherwise it just looks like a giant black blob. I'm proud to say, though, that Naomi's hair seems to have come out okay. I'm a bit worried about Serra's hair, though, since I can't really capture its luster as well as Chira. Adrienne wasn't a problem at all.
For "Small Town Witch", I tried my best at flapper styles, and also had to contend with black hair for Kitty. Jimmy's hair and scarf were the same colour (kind of odd, but whatever), and I realised that Vincent is essentially dressed like the 10th Doctor, just with duller colours. Heheh.
"That Which Wills It" was tricky, because it's the first of these stories with a dark-skinned character, and since I don't really colour in skin, I was afraid Liam might look weird amongst everyone else. He doesn't seem too bad, though. Ronway's hair is technically a very pale blond, but after what happened when I coloured in Alan (later), I decided to just leave it white. Poor Tibsy is the first to feel the effects of the strange gravity.
The titular Alby from "Alby and the Manticore" is his normal, nervous self. He probably got a bit of a nasty shock seeing Liam walking on the wall. Or is Alby on the wall? Meh. Barikos' eyebrows were fun to draw, and I drew Cassia before I found art of her in anything other than that big jacket, so I had to come up with clothes for her to wear on my own. I tried coming up with something akin to ancient Egypt, since she's supposed to be a sphinx and everything.
With "Last Call at the Camellia Club", I drew also Morty before I knew there was art of him, and I can't find any official art for Solomon. But I remember from an anime called "Gad Guard", there's a character with a profession similar to Morty, and he also has a giant robot best friend. And I think that Tony Oliver would be a great match for Mordecai's voice. So I tried drawing Morty based around Tony Oliver's voice, and this is the end result. It was hard drawing a giant hulking robot in stick figure form, so I kind of cheated, giving Solomon full-fledged hands and feet. I remember another anime called "Chobits", and I thought it was really cool at how you could always tell the difference between a persecom and a normal human from the persecom's ears. So for the auto-men, I like to imagine something similar, where despite all the many different shapes and sorts of auto-men, they all have the antenna where their ears would be. I thought that would be very Matsumoto-esque.
For fangirls out there, I'm sorry. I know that Luca from "Sfeer Theory" is a lot braver than that. But when I realised Solomon would be leaning out onto the next side, and when I realised the potential for Luca to leap into Balzac's arms (much to the latter's bewilderment), I just had to draw it. Jahn's expression reflects my own when I drew that. Speaking of Jahn, it was actually pretty hard distinguishing him from Barikos. Thank goodness for the eyebrows.
I originally had no idea how to draw the characters from "The Crossing". I briefly thought of making Alan black, since there don't seem to be any black characters here. But thankfully, there was official art to base my crossover on. I must admit, Xie looks nothing like I imagined. Less creepy, and no facial hair. As for the colouring travesty, Alan also has very pale blond hair, but since my markers are too crude to have such a distinguished colour, I tried lightly colouring in some yellow, and leaving the rest of Alan's hair white. It didn't turn out so well though, I'm afraid.
And with "Daniele and the Lion", you see my main problem whenever I draw people walking in succession, which is that I tend to draw the last person with a MUCH smaller head than the first. I had to catch myself several times throughout this drawing, so that James' head wouldn't look freakishly large. But because I was running out of room, Agnolo's head is very small, and so is Daniele's. Alas, I sincerely apologize. For Daniele's hair, I tried mixing orange with a light brown, and I seem to have gotten the right colour, just at a darker shade than expected. Well, it's better than pure orange.
"Ravencloak" is the only one of Chira and Muun's works that I haven't read yet (along with it's prequel "Fledge"), mostly because I don't want to have nothing left to read on Little Foolery. However, because of this, all I knew about Aesa and Signy was that they were lesbians. Since the story was written for the "Shousetsu Bang*Bang" magazine, I could infer that at some point in the story, they would have sex, but I had no idea what their relationship was. Was it warm and gentle? Passionate and violent? Vitriolic and in denial? I didn't know. So just to be safe, I simply drew the pair holding hands and with expressionless faces.
This was a very long description, so for the when I flip this picture, I'll include the rest of the information there.
