Once a delinquent named Lazuli, she and her twin brother Lapis were taken by Doctor Gero to become the cyborg killing machines Androids 17(Lapis) and Android 18(Lazuli), created for the purpose of killing Goku and ravaging the world for Gero and the Red Ribbon Army's revenge. However, they would rebel and travel to Goku with Androi 16.
Along the way when they were faced by the Dragon Team, 18 would kick up a relationship with the weaker but caring Krillin. This would be interrupted by Cell, who absorbed an alternate future version of herself and nearly killed her, but after being saved by Gohan, Krillin would soon date and later marry 18, soon having a child named Maron(not to be with Krillin's ex Marron). After settling down she has since become partly a member of the Dragon Team and since overcome her programing to kill Goku. Though she is still a cold, vain woman unless it involves her family...
