Description

Cowering, Tanvi shied away from the giant girl before her, who couldn't be more than 12 years old, yet towered overhead like a colossal guardian statue. The tiny woman shuddered, remembering a childhood visit to the Grand Temple in Bangkok, where everything looked foreign and overwhelming. She still had nightmares of the frightening dvarapala there, and now it seemed as though one of the ancient creatures stood before her, sprung to life in the form of an immense child, grinning and poking in her direction.

"Wow, the cupboard really works," laughed the girl, prodding at her captive, who staggered away, casting about for somewhere to run, but found nowhere to hide nearby. The forms of various models and dioramas rose up in the distance, but way too far to reach, even if Tanvi tried a mad dash for safety. Dressed as she was, ready to begin her latest modeling session in a skimpy miniskirt and high-heeled boots, she'd never be able to move quick enough to avoid those giant hands.

"W-what have you done to me?" she managed to yell, automatically raising her voice so the giantess could hear. "W-where am I, and how...how did everything get so big?"

"You're one of my dolls come to life," the child answered, beaming with pride while patting at a simple-looking wooden structure with a partly open door alongside her arm. "I read all about this cupboard's special magic over the weekend. I put my doll in and say the magic word, and you come alive, see? I can't wait to try it on my others too, but for now I want to play with you!"

"I'm not a doll, you stupid kid!" yelled the miniature woman, who stood about five inches high, way less than she would've expected if she replaced a typical child's toy. "My name is Tanvi, and until a couple of minutes ago I was in Delhi, getting ready to leave my dressing room for a modeling session! I have no idea how you did this to me, but you have to put me back!"

"No way!" laughed the little girl. "I had a lot of fun painting you to look real, but now that you really are real, I'm not going back to plain old toys ever again! Now come over here, you can pick out where you're going to live!"

Her enormous hand appeared from behind the table, snatching Tanvi up before she could so much as try to dodge away. The tiny model struggled mightily as she found herself lifted up into the air, but couldn't break the grip, even slightly. A moment later she found herself gasping for breath, clutched in the child's fingers over several carefully designed dioramas, each from a different culture: an Italian villa, a Chinese pagoda, a British castle, and more. Tanvi shuddered at the idea that these were made for dolls, but she would fit inside any of them perfectly well...and this child obviously meant to keep her there as long as she wanted.

For a few fleeting moments Tanvi cast her eyes about for somewhere else she could go to escape, or hide, until she found a way out of this mess, but her eyes lingered too long on the Japanese-style dwelling, and her captor took note. A moment later the miniature woman found herself deposited roughly on the ground just outside the scratch-built wooden frame, looking at all manner of decorations that probably looked amazing to giants, but for someone her size appeared as little more than elaborate fakes.

"I knew you'd like this one!" laughed the girl. "I spent a lot of time on it, if you couldn't tell! Go on, look around and go inside! There's all kinds of clothes you can try on in the closets, and there's even a little tea set you can use! We're going to have so much fun!"

Tanvi stepped up, avoiding the massive pointing finger, trying to figure a way out of this and failing miserably. She stood there for a moment, sighing in defeat, and picked up one of the miniature bottles of sake, only to find it predictably empty.

"Too bad," she muttered softly, shaking her head sadly, "I really could use some of this right about now..."
