Neutral Density Filter. Pretty much just reduces the amount of light that enters, allowing you to use a longer exposure in brighter conditions.

Thanks, its the Ocean Baths in Newcastle. So yup, they are swimming blocks, waves flowing into the pool

Great photo! I believe sunrises are even better than sunsets. Air is clearer.

Thanks, yeh i prefer sunrises at the moment, mainly because i like the sun over the water, thisafternoon it was almost like the air was yellow... not in a smoggy way, but was a interesting to see.

awesome shot..you can save more detail on the sky by attach Gradual ND filter..anyway i love the colors n the mist effect of the waves.. nice mate

Thanks, yeh i did look into the Gradual ND however they are fairly expensive and apparently takes a little setting up as well... on a similar note, Hooray i got a job in a photography shop, so i should learn a lot

Is the ND filter a warming filter? Or is it like circ-polarising.

This shot is beautiful, you really have a fantastic talent for photography. Sunrises are always great, especially over seascapes

i think you can get warming ones as well (not sure), however this one just brings the light down i think 5 stops. more or less so you can get a longer shutter speed in brighter light.

Ah, I see. 5 stops is quite a lot! I just make the aperture thinner for long exposures, but that makes the background clearer...so a filter would be useful.
