Description
Once upon a time there was a boy named BradHe was a very smart young lad
Who lived with his mom and dad
He had many friends yet only some
Knew of his true love:
He swore she came from above
Her name was Lauren
She had locks of gold fall to her forehead
Blushing cheeks and full pink lips
Pale porcelain skin to touch with dark fingertips
Lush and lovely body, an oh so feminine she
From their first meeting they knew with who they should be
He was dark
She was light
She was morning
He was night
He was black, and she was white.
Yet still they loved each other with all their might.
It’s 1963.
January 14.
The dance is coming up but no one will go with me,
Who shall I seek,
The profession of love for me has not yet been leaked.
But my need for love is at its peak
She is out of my reach
Due to all that her father does preach
How can he know what I am to be?
Or who I may seek?
Or leak?
Or peak?
Each look towards me scratches and my heart squeaks
What shall I do dear Lauren to make us both speak?
I love the way you touch and turn.
But everyone else is much too stern
Yet I still yearn.
I hope and pray this isn’t read by your dad.
With affection,
Brad
To: My Sweet B,
I truly love you with all my heart
It has been that way since the start
Thankfully, not one has been smart
To keep us each apart
This road has been tart
With the sweet and the hard
But through it all you’ve been such a card
Able to push through our social wall
Standing strong and tall
So you can catch me if I may fall
But either way, I’d have a ball
Since all you do to me is enthrall
By captivating my flaws
And brightening them to such a degree of awe
From Montreal to Senegal
We’ve seen it all
The tough and the soft
I hold your hand from now to heaven
As slowly the mood of our love shall leaven and leaven
You are mine now and forever
So yes, I will go with you to the dance on Friday!
Lauren
