Description
this chess set took me just over 4 months to create. the pieces were originally sculpted in wax, then caste into bronze. finnished with a liver sulfate dip patina. the tiles are made of hand sculpted and glazed clay. i built the base primarily out of a recycled antique wood handrail.the molds and wax originals were destroyed in the casting process, so this is a one of a kind original chess set. no two figures are exactly alike, but it is still easy to tell what each piece is.
i took the pictures during the 2007 student art show at my college, where i won the vice presidents choice award and the peoples choice award.
i would consider this piece finnised and ready for sale, but i would still like to make wooden bases for each piece. i've priced it at $15,000 or highest bid (price will raise if sold with a middle man markup!)

amazing set. really beautiful.
now from a photography perspective (now as a display to sell) i'd love to see different angles, from the base maybe...
great work
congrats

that is one awesome chess-collection. it must have been very satisfying to finish it.
are you gonna do more? if so i have a word of advice for you: try to find a way to make a permanent mold for your pawns. i found most chess-players hate it if their pawns aren't the same, it makes it harder to tell them appart from bishops and knights, and causes anoyance. if that doesn't work out, then at least make the pawns a bit shorter, so the other pieces stand out more.
putting that aside, I love the sculptures, really cool.
Furthermore I'd love to see close-up's of the individual sculptures, to get a good eye of the detail and the actual figure's character/ identity. (it's hard to see what is what from this angle)
again, AWESOME PIECE.
see ya
