this chess set took me just over 4 months to create. the pieces were originally sculpted in wax, then caste into bronze. finnished with a liver sulfate dip patina. the tiles are made of hand sculpted and glazed clay. i built the base primarily out of a recycled antique wood handrail.

the molds and wax originals were destroyed in the casting process, so this is a one of a kind original chess set. no two figures are exactly alike, but it is still easy to tell what each piece is.

i took the pictures during the 2007 student art show at my college, where i won the vice presidents choice award and the peoples choice award.

i would consider this piece finnised and ready for sale, but i would still like to make wooden bases for each piece. i've priced it at $15,000 or highest bid (price will raise if sold with a middle man markup!)
