so this is a culmination of a few things.

first, the repeated motif of twilight-adjacent unicorns with magic talents that have Friendship Problems (Sunset Shimmer, Starlight Glimmer, Moon Dancer, Luster Dawn) and that their names are always some sort of astronomical phenomenon and usually a synonym for "sparkle." i have dubbed a fanmade one of these ponies "twilightsonas" because. thats sort of what they are.

then when looking back at king sombra's (first) defeat, i was reminded that sombra kind of Violently Exploded and that a subsequent shot showed his horn as having been blasted off to who-knows-where. so i sort of asked "what would happen if someone found his horn and used it for fucked up and evil magic or something approximately related to it" so i decided to combine that with the name for a twilightsona i came up with and here we have her.

I'll be honest, my younger self wouldnt have been brave enough to use gradients and rainbows as a prominent motif for her, but that comes from a long history of looking at cringe blogs made specifically to laugh at kids for Having A Good Time In A Way Not Approved By Adults (And Not Even In A Shitty Way But Like Making Stupid OP Alicorn Princess OCs And Having Fun With It). long story short cringe culture gave me brain worms for a while but now that im not a coward i can and will give her a gradient mane.

She also had a saddle bag in the original sketch but i didnt feel like drawing it lol.

the story i came up with as for how she came across sombra's horn was that someone else in the north found it while scavenging for shit to sell, didn't realize what it was, took it, and then it got sold to some dude on the magic black market because while i image severed unicorn horns are definitely used in some magic its definitely been outlawed because Holy Unethical Practices Batman. then the magic black market dude sold it to Aurora, who frequents the market because its a good place to find rare and valuable magic artifacts (even if she knows they've almost always been obtained in unscrupulous ways).

and then i image the dark magic starts leaking out and i'll be honest here i imagine she treats it like Ford did Bill Cipher at first except I dont think she realizes its fucking with her until its too late and she does something terrible. idk what. i didnt get that far.
