Description
Yet another product of Sculpture class. A lot of kids made trees for the wire sculpture project ( started the trend), but I was the only one who used a moose antler. Just one of the advantages to having a parent who worked in wildlife programs and such and was a biology teacher-- they had a box of animal bones and skulls sitting in the basement and let me use the antler as a base. Originally I had wanted to use a piece of driftwood or a branch or something like that, but I didn't get a chance to find one before the project was due.The bird cage bead is my sister's and I'm waiting for her to ask for it back (though I'm really hoping she'll forget).
Yes, everything was twisted by hand, for the most part. The roots I did at school, so I had access to proper pliers there, but everything else was twisted by hand (which required much patience and caused much pain).
Ingredients:
- 1 moose antler
- Lots of aluminum wire
- colored copper craft wire (the vine around the trunk if you can see it)
- one broken electric mixer to strip the cord for copper wire (used to hang the beads)
- parental permission to strip the copper wire from the mixer and to use the antler
- beads
- bells
- anything else you might want to add
- patience
- Optional: wire cutters and needle nose pliers (I made do with my hands and some fingernail clippers, but I don't recommend it)
