Rainbow Dash does not have as big of an ego as Trixie. Rainbow Dash announces she is the best when it is brought up, Trixie literally brings a stage wherever she goes to make a scene while exclaiming to everypony that "Trixie is the most powerful unicorn in all Equestria."

MLP has a mixed track record when it comes to pride episodes. Most of the time they approach the episode with the formula: "the only way to deal with someone with a big ego is to have everyone else act even MORE obnoxious and unlikeable." That and half of the pride focused episodes really don't focus on why being excessively prideful can be a bad thing, beyond simply saying that it is.
Think about how many episodes purported to be about a character acting arrogant or selfishly: "What About Discord?" "Mare Do Well" "28 Pranks Later" "Princess Spike" "Equestria Games" and those episodes were all (imo) really bad. The only good episodes dealing with ego have been episodes involving other characters, like "Pinkie Pride" "Applebuck Season" or "Stare Master."

So "Stare Master"; an episode where Fluttershy arrogantly takes on a job she cannot complete, and never learns she was incompetent, but rather ends up being right all along and disciplines the girls in the end.
That's the kind of episode that exemplifies how letting your ego make your choices is a bad thing?
They all have flaws, and don't always get the messages across that they aim for; what also has flaws is your logic, and I'd recommend reading over what you type before thinking it all makes sense, (the shows writers could probably use the same advice given the few mishaps they've run into; especially in the most recent season).

Okay, that's a fair point.
I attribute that more to Fluttershy getting some soft-ball episodes, being given wins she really didn't earn.
But what I think they did better there than in something like "Mare Do Well" or "Boast Busted" is that the writers didn't make Fluttershy out to be utterly unlikeable. Half the time when the writers want to show a character being over-confident or prideful, they turn them into unlikeable obnoxious d-bags. It's not realistic and misses the point. One is fully capable of being overconfident without becoming a caricature, and it's a mixed-message to send to the audience: "As long as I don't act THAT over the top, that must mean I have my pride in check!" Also, no one showed up and lectured Fluttershy that she made a mistake, she was allowed to figure it out on her own. Granted, having it end with her being great with kids cheapened that, but compared to the missteps of the other episodes I mentioned, that's pretty small potatoes.
