Eh, here's what I can gather from my time with Androids and iPhone.
iPhones just work with stuff. Since apple has such a stranglehold on everything on it, it's really easy to make things for it because every phone is the same. Every experience is the same, all the hardware is the same, and nothing should screw that up. Just as apple wants, because, whatever. So like putting one lego on another, shit just works. (usually)
Android is the more powerful system. You can slap that shit on everything and it will work awesome. Something not awesome, you say? Well it's open source. Fix it yourself if you got the knowhow. It's also MUCH more customizable right out of the box. You gotta jailbreak an iPhone to make it more personal. But then we get to the downfall of android, the extremely wide range of hardware it uses. That's why some things takes a little bit of fuss to get it to work, and how some things just doesn't work right. Like the pebble, and Samsung devices on stock firmware.
Both are good phones. I'm a lazy bastard, so I have an iPhone, and it does the job and then some because I jailbroke it. (not to mention its teeny size made it moderately useful to illuminate the gauge cluster on my buddy's car when the last bulb on it finally gave out) But I also have an Android handset to use for things that I can't do on an iPhone.
Take this as you will, but this is my two bits.
