This is part 6 of my ongoing Pony comic.Twilight has gone to Sweet Apple Acres, seeking Applejack's help to live as an Earth Pony. But Applejack doesn't react quite as Twilight Expected.
Before you start writing angry comments about how this is out of character for Applejack, I wanted to have each of the ponies react in a different way. I wanted one character to get angry, and Applejack seemed a better fit for this than any of the other characters.
She is angry because Twilight thinks that being an Earth Pony is all about farming.
This is the human equivalent of judging somebody based on their race.
Applejack will be more like the show version in page 7.

This page was created in Inkscape and Photoshop. Most of the foreground characters were scratch drawn for this page, or for previous pages.
I've used gameguy001 's Sweet-Apple-Acres as a background for all frames ([link] ). Though I modified it slightly as I wanted to put a shadow in for the fence.
Applejack's Cutie Mark was created by BlackGryph0n ([link] ).
Twilight's cloak was scratch drawn, but it is based on Trixie's cape. I used Why485's Pony Fashion Study ([link] ) as a guide, but altered the decorations and added a hood to turn the cape into a cloak. It was inspired by Twilight Sparkle's dress from The Best Night Ever.

I've got the Rainbow Dash part planned out, but it's going to be pretty near the end, so ... it won't be uploaded for a while.

Every other pony has an emotion that better suits them.
Can you honestly see Rarity getting angry over this, or Pinkie?
In the show, she's the one who is most likely to snap another pony. For example, she snaps at everypony in The Last roundup.
Other ponies only get angry in specific situations. Like Rarity with her sister.

In all fairness Applejack, its an easy misconception to make. The care and tending of plants and animals is what Earth Ponies naturally excell at as a breed.

Applejack is just a little bit annoyed that Twilight came to her because she was a farmer, rather than because she was a friend.

Applejacks snout looks a bit odd in the second to last panel, but aside from that everything is quite entertaining so far

That does make sense... but I still think that out of all Twilight's friends Applejack is the best one to talk to about being an Earth Pony. Since Pinkie Pie isn't really one, she is just Pinkie Pie.

Well ... yes, but also no.
As Applejack said herself, she's a Farm Pony, but not all Earth Ponies are Farm Ponies.
Most of the Earth Ponies named on the show aren't farmers. Cheerilee, for example. Almost all of the Farm Ponies who have names on the show are members of the Apple Family.

I meant just in general. Since Pinkie Pie is, well Pinkie Pie, trying to learn anything from her would probably make Twilight's head explode.
Of course my reasoning has nothing to do with the farm, but that Pinkie Pie breaks physics.

Pinkie is an Earth pony, but she is the exact opposite of Applejack in many ways.

But I think you are missing my point. Applejack is right in this comic in many ways, but Twilight made the right choice on who to talk to, for the wrong reasons.

I think that Applejack is the pony that everypony would go to first.
She's just that kind of pony.

And that is so true, everypony would. Though I really liked the way this went, makes things more interesting then "Applejack saved everything"

Well ... yeah, I did kinda write it. but I enjoy discussing it with other people. It's interesting to see how different people see the same comic, and how this can sometimes be different from how I saw it when I wrote it.
I figured that Twilight would go to Rainbow Dash first. Because she's an Earth Pony. But I wanted there to be a twist.
If Applejack was just Applejack from the show, it would be a very short comic. She'd make everything better, and that would be all.

It just throws me a little, since I'm more used to casual discussion with other people who aren't important to the plot of what we are talking about. I love discussion though, so I'm always happy to talk about it!
I'm just going to assume you meant to say Applejack, instead of Rainbow Dash. And I see where Applejack is coming from though, maybe it is my head cannon that unicorns are kind of racists, well all ponies are racist really, unicorns just especially. Left over from the whole Founding of Equestria thing, but not the point. And it is true that if Applejack helped then this comic would be all about Twilight learning from her, which can get boring fairly quickly.
