Description
Join Tails during his grimmest adventure as he wanders through a wasteland of ash and liquid fire, confronting his deepest fears and darkest nightmares.Using Flash 8 and its ActionScript 1 and 2, this game has been in production for quite some time. Compared to what the first Tails' Nightmare game was in 2008, you could say the engine has grown into something memorable. This is not your average Sonic engine, but it still has all of its elements involving speed and momentum. I didn't want the game to be exactly like a Sonic game; I wanted it to be more stand-alone, one of a kind, giving Tails an appropriate gameplay for his character. I plan to end the series as a trilogy; I don't have any intentions on making a fourth. Tails' Nightmare 3 will end the series, with a story to justify its epic finale.
Full game coming soon. Play the demo in your browser here!
You can also find it on my SAGExpo booth here! There are additional screenshots available exclusive to SAGE found on this page.
Check out other games here! These guys all worked hard on their projects, too! I applaud to everyone at the SAGExpo for their progress! Good job!
(Characters are © to SEGA and Sonic Team)
Note: When you're playing the game, I highly recommend you close other browser windows/tabs associated with DA or other websites that have ads. The ads tend to cause the game to skip/lag every few seconds.

This was intended to be a sub-boss. The tails doll will be involved as well.

Awesome. And thanks for all you have done, if it wasn't for Tails' Nightmare I would have never started programming and would not have realized my gift for computers nearly as soon.

Just played the game...And I...LOVED IT! Espicially the fight against Sonic.EXE!
Just one thing that bothers me...And that's the 'clone' of Tails seen at the end of the fight; Will he ever be involved in the full release?

It's meant to come across as a mystery in the end of this demo, and make you ponder why he exists, as it is a cliffhanger to the actual storyline. Yes, he is a big part of the full game, which when you get the full story, it will make more sense that he is there. In addition, Sonic.EXE was not just in the demo for no reason. He will be in the full game, and part of the story, too.

Surely, I'll be waiting for the full game, Plus I have another question:
In the full release, Will Sonic.EXE keep his moves in the demo or use new moves?
P.S. I loved the shield mechanics, You should keep them in the full release of Tails' Nightmare 3!

Yes, he will keep his current moves, but he will likely have a larger variety of new attacks and techniques as well. Due to my press on time to finish the demo in time for August, I had to make the boss fight shorter. In the full release, he may also have additional phases when he gets angry after you've hit him a few times. Not everything is confirmed, but this is what is in the plans so far. As this demo is in an alpha state of progress, there is potential for many changes as I work up to the full game.
As for your mention of the shields, their functions will remain the same. If anything, they will be improved (if possible), and there might even be additional "new" shields added(?!)

please dont.
To be honest, I feel the Sonic.EXE fight is REALLY hard, and even when I stacked up, I still got 2 game overs on the fight. I honestly don't like it too much.

Heh, I do realize it's a bit hard. But that's just how I tend to make my games, because I like my games with a challenge.
The boss does have a bit of a pattern, if you try to understand it. Once you learn how he attacks and figure out when to strike and when not to strike, you will find it easier to fight back.
Sorry you were having a difficult time. The full version might have a difficulty select option, but we'll see how that works out.

Here's my biggest issue with this game, I have only played for 30 seconds and I HATE the movement controls....Every time Tails moves it's like he's in the ice capades, slipping and sliding STRAIGHT INTO DEATH! Oh, and you can't spin jump when wall climbing either, and that makes it even more painful when there's a conveniently placed enemy there to hit you....The placements for the lava pits are absurd because half the time, you never know that the lava pit is right there....and with these slippy sliding movement controls it feels near un-playable....I just QUIT after the first 30 seconds

Well, you clearly don't play a lot of Sonic games, or are used to all of SEGA's new releases, because the classic games were all like that. You moved the character and let gravity do the rest, basically. Once you actually get "used" to the controls, it becomes easy to move Tails around. Learn to use the brakes to shuffle the directions you want to move. The controls are not much different than TN2. If you didn't like them then, it's no wonder you don't like it now. I didn't want to adjust the controls "too" much from what TN2 was, because jumping from TN2 to TN3 and finding the controls to be 95% different would come as a shock to the player. The difference from TN1 to TN2 was significant enough, but for the right reasons to change. Not every game is for everyone, sorry I disappointed you.

Sorry if my criticism pissed you off....But I have played modern Sonic games, and I'm not thrilled about the controls for them either....I get that sonic is super fast and all, but as the master of faster, you'd think he'd be able to stop on a dime in these games...that's why the slipping and the sliding don't work, no offence
