I'm not too fazed about these remakes anymore. They make lots of bank, but are so uninspired and leave no lasting impression on people.
Look at Aladdin for example. There was bunch of controversy and ranting months before release. Movie’s out, breaks the boxoffice, then people shrugged their shoulders and stopped talking about it. I had actually forgotten it came out this year.
My big fear of these remakes overshadowing the amazing originals was unwarranted because of Disneys low efforts. Will the Lion King remake be remembered at all in a years time? Doubt it.
I don't mind new interpretations. So if the new Little Mermaid does its own thing and doesn't just recycle the same music and plot I'm all for it. But I'm not holding my breath.
There's going to be some stink on the internet a few months before release, the movie will come out and Disney will laugh their way to the bank while we all rant about the new remake coming later that that year.

It is the reality behind that awful casting. Is pure bullshit that that girl had the most talent, when there are hundreds if not thousands out there who could have done the same job. They want to keep showing they're not a racist company, and the best way to do it is by casting one of their biggest money making princess from white to black.
