Species Name: Orange-Bellied ParrotLatin Name: Neophema chrysogaster
Native To: Southern Australia
Conservation Status: Critically Endangered
These parrots are one of the only species of parrot that migrate. Conservation and breeding programs have been set up across various zoo's in Australia in order to conserve this species of parrots. Recently at the time of writing this (may - 2021) a number of these birds have been released into the wild in Tasmania. This is a good sign as it shows that the conservation efforts are helping somewhat but there is still a long way to go to preserve this beautiful breed of bird.
