I don't know why, but I've grown fond of drawing the Mario princesses, lately. They're fun to draw.The concept behind this picture is inspired from an idea I had for a potential Mario fan comic, featuring all three princesses as protagonists. I don't know if I'm gonna do said comic though (too time consuming for me right now).
I really like how the lineart came out! Not only my improvements with the graphic tablet really show here (the lines are the smoothest, crispest I've ever made so far on Photoshop), but I really like the poses I imagined for each princess.

Edit on 2009/03/02: Made very small changes to the characters' designs, to fit with my current style. Furthermore, the file is now a .ZIP file containing the wallpaper in all resolutions below (in pixels) :

Mais oui, je préfères nettement la version widescreen aussi. C,est aussi toujours comme ca que je me suis imaginé le wallpaper, mais j'ai préféré le faire en fullscreen au début pour m'acquitter du plus difficile en premier.

Ouains... tu pourrais toujours réduire la taille des personnages pour rendre la même proportion. Haha, c'est tellement mieux quand Rosalina a les bras dans ce sens-là...

L'affaire c'est que si je réduis la taille de mes personnages dans la version fullscreen, je me retrouve avec un espace trop grand en haut, et le détail de mon lineart dans mes personnages est perdu. Faque je me suis dit que c'était juste beeeen plus simple de juste cropper la partie de gauche pour faire la version fullscreen a a partir de la version widescreen.

So I take it usually you'd ink by hand rather than with a Tablet? How long did it take you to ink this? I ask because my way of inking takes about a day on and off depending on the picture. I like crisp lines but I wish I could find an effective way to work quicker. I use the brush tool instead of the pen tool.
Not much I can say about this really because it's great. I do hope you feel motivated enough to do a comic at some point. I'm planning to do one but it's probably best to keep it short unless inspiration throughout the making of it can be found. You've done a fantastic job, keep up the great work!

It didn't take long to ink it all, probably two hours or something.
And I take it that you're doing the inking job on Adobe Illustrator? I've worked on this program a lot before and made several pictures using that same method you're using (My picture 'Born in Brooklyn' is made in that fashion: [link] ) and I gotta say that YES it takes forever to ink with it. Especially if you're using a mouse (even with a graphic tablet, you'd have to constantly redraw the lines because they always smoothen or redraw themselves when you're done drawing a line).
Then I started using the tablet on Photoshop. The first trials were really sloppy and almost discouraged me, but several attempts and lots of practice later made me really at ease with it. So yeah, it's pretty much the usual '
I hope I,ll be able to do the comic. The story I found for it was quite long though so it's not in my advantage to do it right now since I have very few time at my disposal. But we never know!

I ink on Photoshop.XD It used to take ages, mainly cos I have bad circulation in my hands so they freeze up.D| But luckily PS and my Tablet (it's a ye olde Trust one) began to pick up pen pressure now. So even though my inking can be messy, with pen pressure it's a lot less messy and easier to clean up. A pic I inked yesterday took me about half a day to do on and off.
You could always draw up the odd random page for your comic, as a sample. Then maybe when you're read for a longer project you have some source of inspiration? Might do that myself.=3

So your inking is done with Photoshop? I'm impressed! It really looks like it's done with vector-based tools (like the pen tool). Not much people can achieve that, even with a tablet!
For the comic, yeah, I think I'll start writing the script just for the kicks, and see if I get some motivation to start it!

Bah, I prefered Peach to be the crazy one. I don't always want to stick with the official (read as: canon) behaviour of each character (or else Mario wouldn't be that... CRAZY on my pictures).

This reminds me of my anime... Peach seems to be the leader, and is a bit crazy, although Daisy and Rosalina are swapped, with Rosalina just following along happily and Daisy being dragged away.
But this pic is awesome... And I have nothing to say because IT'S 3:00 IN THE MORNING SO WHY AM I AWAKE?!
