Description Tunnel dwellers are a sapient species of rodents. They live in big colonies underground and are cut off from other species....most of the time.
Tunnel Dwellers are bipedal hairless mole like creatures. They have five fingers equipped with long and powerful claws made for digging into the ground and into flesh. Their thumb usually doesn’t have a claw. Having one is considered a deformity. Their most recognizable feature is their horn. They use it as a way to indicate their social status by decorating it with various items.
Dwellers also bear a short tail. Some of them are born with long tails but it’s considered a deformity and is frowned upon. Most long tailed Dwellers are ready to pay high prices to get their tailed shortened. Dwellers eyes are usually completely black but can on occasion be a dark shade of brown, green or yellow. The rarest eye colors are blue and red and both are considered bad omens. Blue eyed babies are killed on the spot while red eyed are usually kept alive until their fur is visible as an Albino Dweller is considered a good omen.
Tunnel Dwellers like to dress themselves up with various clothes and trinkets in order to show their status. The more stuff a dweller owns, the more respected he'll be.
Tunnel Dwellers are also known for their smell, often a mixture of rot and urine. They’re very smelly which can be an advantage in noticing them.

Tunnel Dwellers are a patriarchal and individualist society. Most dwellers don’t care about their kin and only focus on their personal objectives, sometimes even at the price of hurting others.
All currently observed Tunnel Dwellers are strictly males. According to sources, their females are kept in the deepest part of their colonies and are never seen in public. This is why it seems safe to assume that the Tunnel Dwellers are patriarchal.

Dwellers don’t have currency. Their whole economy is based on trades. Service for a service, goods for goods, service for goods etc...
In terms of technology, Dwellers are left in the dirt by most other species. They seem to know about craftsmanship but it’s pretty limited. Their main ressource is called Rotten Iron and as the name may imply, it’s not of very high quality. It’s far from durable and holds no chance against steel. But the Tunnel Dwellers have another card up their sleeve. Their war beasts. ( More about them later). Unlike Humans and Monsters, there is no partnership between Dwellers and their beasts. Only dominance.

When it comes to inter species relationships, it’s easy to notice that the Tunnel Dwellers are universally not liked, even sometimes hated.
Most monsters, even the more pacific ones consider them foes.
As for humans, well... Dwellers are known for often raiding small towns in order to steal stuff and capture slaves to work in their colony. Most information we have about the species is thanks to former slaves who were rescued or managed to escape. Once in the colony, slaves have very low life expectancy.

Due to that, Dwellers are not allowed near humans settlements and are ordered to be attacked on sight by most town guards.
If they take captives, Royal Enforcers will try to raid their colony in order to free them but sadly, not all towns are blessed with such protection...
