-Began with what if the Abaranger dinosaur theme had been animals, though this changed to animals that were scavengers originally before changing as the group's dynamic was discovered. First two members of the Underbelly Scavengers I started with were Red Fervor and Yuca Mist. Complimentary yet antagonistic to one another. When i picked Hyena, thought what sort of personality might they have? Intelligence made sense to be a core trait, especially with it being a carry over from Ranru Itsuki, AbareYellow who a genius with mechanical things and strategic in battle.

Although not used in Midnight Plaza's story, Yuca mist would have carried that blaster which for simplicity sake is the same as the ScavYellow one, which in turn was based on the blaster sidearms the Abarangers used minus the sword mode. That Hyena theme for her character invoked raider imagery in my mind, which stood as a nice contrast to Red Fervor. Maid look a disguise which inadvertently turned into the Underbelly scavengers general look, once they all started working together. She would turn the mask to the side, before reaching for their laser pistol, the false image would get dropped and naturally as seen in the chapter 18 cover, said look got altered with various armor and gear as time went on.

Yuca's son Ruddy from the very start of Midnight Plaza brainstorming was influenced by Speed Racer, which made additions to characterization for her easier to consider, though said personality not one to one to Trixie's. For obvious reasons given the well known MLP Gen 4 character Trixie Lunamoon, the name was never going to be Trixie and setting wise the name Michi Mufune would not work without fully embracing them being a character based around a reference.

Yuca is the type to say she a self made mare. Re-purposing others' ideas into something new she considers as innovation, though if questioned will acknowledge all forms of inspiration must be from somewhere familiar even if the actual end result is different. Prime example, maid out fit wearing raider. Not necessarily the first thing most would think of raiders, though raiders all varying in various ways across the games and Fallout:Equestria side stories.
