I'm actually surprised I managed to finish this tonight! ...Er, this morning... TODAY. :'DBut, I started to notice a few folks were posting more pieces that were inspired by/screamed Don Bluth to me. And I wanted to try and give my own take on it! And who better to try this with that the master of chaos himself?
I can't get Bluth's style down to a'T", but GOSH was this incredibly fun to work on! And given this was all entirely done with a traditional sketch, Manga Studio, and my Cintiq (things I'm still trying to fully adjust to), I feel even more proud of this.
Hope I didn't butcher this too bad!

Wow! I can definitely see the Don Bluth vibe here. It's really cool! I have a friend who uses Manga Studio, and I've been told it's a pretty good program. (At the moment, I can't afford more than the free Sketchbook App...) How long did it take to make this? It's amazing!

There are quite a few things that deviate from Don Bluth's signature style, (i.e., the eyes, mouth, and the hands) but this is still a fantastic piece nonetheless.

Oh definitely, haha! There are a lot of things I should've payed attention to and tried to fix right from the start, but I didn't want to risk possibly messing things up even more. Gotta work on that!

Why is adding a texture to a finished work so appealing to certain artists? I am NOT saying it takes anything away from the work, I'm just curious.

Hehe, the main reason I added a significant amount of texture to this piece was to try and give a more 'cinema' feel, almost as if that was a screenshot taken from an animated scene on a VHS tape (kind of like how some shots from movies Don Bluth was a part of appear when you search for them)!
But textures of any kind tend to give that bit of effect an artist may have been trying to add to their pieces.
