Oni Smash!

What does she smash? that's for you to imagine^^

sketched with pencil, colored with copics and pantone markers then lineworks done with drawing pens 01, 03 and 05, and a little bit cleanup in PhotoShop, like erasing rogue ink and colors

quite like how this one turned out, yes, maybe her limbs are a bit long, but I tought that that might be a thing, I tought about doing orange stripes first, but then I tought, the Tiger in Calvin and Hobbes actually has black stripes, and Tigers do have black stripes in reality as well (along with orange ones) and, it actually works, even, makes it more stylistic as I had intended, I think it works well as a action/key-pose as well^^

Tora means Tiger, I intended that as a fun touch^^ as for wearing Tiger fur... well, I see it more like becoming the animal you wear, like a Berserker, I do in no way "approve" of wearing Tigers as clothes in real life as I find them as quite majestic creatures (don't do this at home, please), or, maybe the clothes actually is cow leather with yellow dye tiger patterns on it

I could say, there is some kind of ambivalence at work when I draw Oni's, least when it comes to drawing their iconic clothing

I called her Red Oni 2011 because I seem to have a thing for at to least draw one Oni character each year

What is a Oni, and why do they fascinate me?
Well, as I see them, they are very equal to Norwegian Trolls in a way, not in looks but how they appear, they hold their liquor well, the horns, their brutal demaneour, wielding a huge club, yeah, in Japan they are more like Storm deities, the stripes in the Tiger Fur can symbolize lightning, and, depending on how you see it, can be linked to the Norse god Tor somewhat (it's Tor, not "Thor" actually, marvel has it wrong ) they can ride thunder clouds (for transportation) and can also wear Taiko drums (for the sound effect I assume) yeah, probably have said something similar in a previous Oni picture

4 from 2008 Maybe 2011 will be another year for more Onies to appear? Already 1 so far, it might bode well
