Description
This was something I was waiting for for a loooong time! Ever since I heard of the fan film Star Trek: First Frontier, I was hooked. I even built the drydock they were using in the movie, all based on a couple of screenshots from the trailer. It was more than three years ago. I was asked by the creators of the movie not to use it till the movie comes out, so I obliged and deleted my one and only render of it from DeviantArt.
A few days ago, I was contacted by designer Scott Lyttle, finally giving his and producer Kenny Smith's blessings to use it. Instead of digging up that old render, I did something better (I hope so) with this brand new image. Here she is, the Enterprise, in the drydock she was constructed in, ready to take on the great frontier.

As for the movie itself: I liked it, I liked it a lot. I loved how they had their own tricorder design based on the translucent slab communicator from The Cage. The Class F shuttles had nacelle spikes and the first pilot style back pieces. The aliens looked cool, even with the weird eyes (were they the eyes of the MOTU Roton vehicle?), and the alien ship had a seriously creepy Eldritch vibe to it. There were some issues with the actors' voices being too quiet some times, and the soundtrack relied heavily on the TOS movie soundtracks. But overall, it was one of the better fanfilms, and I'm really happy to have finally seen it. It is an unmistakable labor of love, and all I can do is congratulate all the wonderful people involved in creating it.
