Description
Using Photoshop you can create some really interesting plays on light and shadow similar to the standard start up Mac background in OSX.This tutorial is an intermediate tutorial and uses the pen tool, a bit of brushing and a gradient. Anyhow this is the first tutorial i've written for years, i went through the old deviantart tutes and found the ones i did when the site first started, they've all gone offline so I thought its time to start afresh
Anyhow hope this helps someone in some way. I actually use this technique in corporate work so it does have some practical use from a design point of view. Just remember to keep it subtle! (thats like my motto)

well... that was fun... i kinda tweaked it a bit and on the scale of 240x266 to make for a Cellphone wallpaper size, but for the most part the same idea.

Oh my gosh. I think I saw this tutorial a long time ago on pixel2life, and I lost the link after reading it once, and I spent HOURS trying to find it again, to no avail. I am so glad this is here.
Great job on the tutorial, it has amazing effects too, well done!

maybe i'm just fucking retarded or something but this tutorial did absolutely nothing for me. i got up to step 3 and it made no sense. and even some of the steps i had to do backwards... what version of Photoshop were you using for it? Peace
