He struck a pose, the very picture of heroism. And as soon as everybeast saw who had come to their rescue... they knew they were doomed.
So later on in the story (and again this is a spoiler but you'll probably forgive me) I like the idea of Rolf being legitimately badass... but nobeast believes him anymore because of the whole Boy Who Cried Rolf fiasco with the trophies.
