Description
SO, I was bored, started writing, that's about it. Found the picture on the internet awhile a go but couldn't find the owner.
Link burst out of the doors of the Temple of Time. He skidded to a stop. No, no, no, NO! Clouds of darkness covered the sky, blocking out any direct trace of the sun’s rays. He looked to the north-east; surrounding the top of Death Mountain was a ring of fire. How can this have happened? How can this have happened?! How could the Goddesses have let this happen? Link dashed forward, ignoring Navi’s cries. He hurried into Castle Town. And all of this is my fault. The buildings were in decay. The fountain that had stood proudly in the center of town was in pieces. Following a shuffle, a figure came out of an alleyway; a disgust looking creature, with rotting and wrinkled flesh. The Castle! Link turned and ran to the north, up the trail towards the castle. He gasped. The castle or what was now in its place was floating above a lake of lava. He fell to the ground and put his head in his hands. His eyes filled with tears. Where was Zelda? Where was Zelda! What had happened to the princess? Link looked up.
“Ganondorf,” Link hissed with disgust, as if the word was poison. He reached back and gripped the hilt of the Master Sword. He pulled the sacred blade out of its sheath and laid it across his lap. He ran a hand down the slightly glowing blade, outlined the Triforce on the ricasso, fingered the jewel in its cross piece, and gripped the wings of the crossguard. Link kept his head down as he heard the footsteps slowly approaching.
“I was hoping that you’d all lied to me.” Link said. “I was hoping that none of this was real, that it was all a dream, I don’t know.” He rubbed at his eyes; wiping away the tears sliding down his cheeks. “How could this have happened? This is all my fault!” He slammed the ground with his fist.
“Yes Hero, this happened because you and the princess, in your foolish childhood fantasies, interfered with powers you shouldn’t have.” Link kept his head down.
“I know, I am the reason Ganondorf has the Triforce. Why Ganondorf has gotten into the sacred realm.”
“Don’t despair.” The voice said much more softly. “It was as much Zelda’s fault as much as it was yours. Besides, we have been waiting for you, Hero of Time.” Link turned around and looked at the speaker, clothed in deep blues and purple, with flashes of white here and there, blond hair and red eyes shining out between mouth and head coverings. Those red ears seemed to pierce into Link’s very being...much like the proud Sheikah symbol emblazoned on their torso. The Sheikah took a step closer.
“When Evil rules all, a voice of awakening will call forth from the sacred realm, calling upon those destined to be Sages.” The Sheikah took another step forward.
“One lies in a deep forest.” Another step forward.
“One on a high mountain,” another step.
“One under a vast lake,” another step.
“Another lies in the house of the dead.” Yet another step toward him.
“The last in a goddess of the Sun.” The Sheikah sat down next to Link. “Together, with your help, the awakened ones will restore peace to this kingdom. To our home, or so the legends say” The Sheikah’s eyes narrowed. “Do you believe what I am telling you?”
“I don’t have much of a choice now do I.” Link said sadly. The Sheikah put a hand on his back.
“Link, this is a chance for you to set right all the mistakes you and the princess made. This is your chance to make things right. To help the people who have suffered under Ganondorf’s hands due to mistakes made in childhood. Hyrule is in need of you now; Hyrule is in need of a hero.” Link’s eyes flashed open, and anyone who could have seen them would have sworn that they had the appearance of a roaring flame, scorching all that stood in its path. He gripped the Master Sword and put it back in its sheath. He shot into the air, the Sheikah just behind. Link looked up at Ganondorf’s castle.
“Ganondorf, you’ll pay for your crimes, for the evils you’ve committed, I swear it; by the Goddesses I swear it.” Link said fiercely to himself. He looked at the Sheikah. “What do I have to do now?”
“Go home.” Link knew what they meant.
“Link,” he turned his head, honestly surprised. In his excitement he had forgotten about the fairy. He smiled slightly.
“Yes Navi?”
“I’m sorry all this had to happen to you.” She said, landing on his shoulder.
“Don’t be, you had nothing to do with it.” Link turned his attention back to the Sheikah. “Am I going to see you again?” The Sheikah’s facial features twitched into what Link assumed was a smile.
“Indefinitely, now get going, Hero.” Link nodded, and then turned around, putting the castle to his back.
“You ready Navi?”
“Let’s do it.”
“Remember Hero,” the Sheikah’s voice came again; “you’re doing this for Hyrule...for Princess Zelda.”
“For Princess Zelda,” Link repeated under his breath. Link took a step forward and began walking. Before long, it was an all-out run.
***
Sheik stood still, watching Link as he ran.
“Yes, yes, he’ll do fine, he’ll do fine indeed.”
