Species: Springy Ducklett

Team: Scalding Waves

Position: Recruit

Branch: Bounty Hunter

Level: lv`1

Ability: Keen eye

Moveset:

- Lucky Chant

- Me First

- Water Gun

-

Nature: Modest

Characteristic: " Good Perseverance "

Personality:

- + Selfless / Giving + -

- The want to protect and provide for those who don't have the same mental or physical stability is strong within Odile-- it could be a child or it could simply be someone she's needing to attend to medically, assistance is something she's never put herself above doing...  she takes every chance she can to give to others and help those she can. Emotionally, or through simple means of Aid.

+ Nurturing + -

- Encouragement for others is something Odile never lacks! Even if it's a simple word to keep going and never give up, or how to change something for the better, she never seems to stop wanting to see other people succeed, making an amazing tutor and teacher in writing and baking!

+ Observant + -

- Keen-eye isn't her ability for nothing! Odile has the tendency to be observant of not only her surroundings but of people and social situations. It's not hard for her to mentally point out a bad egg in a crowd! She can be a very detail-oriented person with such, but being able to observe the truth from lies has gotten her out of many a bad situation while traveling, even before her life with Benno and the GCSF.

-= Fun-Loving = -

- Despite being raised royalty, Odile finds the funner, wild side of life to be extremely rewarding-- however there's no malice in her way of fun! Simply taking a trip to an abandoned ruin or going for a simple walk around the park is enough for her... exploration of the beach and simple getaways from everyday mundane life fill her with immense glee.

= Proper = –

-  Odile knows edict when it slaps her in the face, you will not find her simply lacking proper introduction or meal prep, no no-- even though she can graze over rules from time to time, most of Odi's teachings throughout her life have been learning the right times for everything-- from when a toast is to be given, to what fork is closest to the plate, even how to ballroom dance!

- x Jealous x -

- A woman who had it all and would've continued to have it all-- it can sometimes come to her attention that it's not like that anymore-- even if she's jealous of her own previous or past life... what bothers her is her lack of connection to others, truly-- seeing people make deep meaningful relationships and friendships can leave her wanting the same distinct feel, but it's always out of reach. Even then, it can be quite terrifying to actually reach out and connect with others on that second level, despite her overly friendly demeanor.

- x Rebellious x-

- Despite being proper, well-mannered, and rather fair most of the time... Odile can find herself having a soft spot for rebels, even if it's just simply eating one more cookie before bed or if it's getting into a bar fight to save a damsel in distress after sneaking out past midnight-- It's simply by her own nature that wanting something out of the mundane for her own natural life, of course!

- x Overly-Prepared x -

-  Having been prepped and readied for everything most of her life, being surprised is... foreign and can leave her extremely flustered, stunned, or even frozen in place-- especially if it wasn't even an available option in her previous assumption of the situation. Even if that's simply starting to bake and finding herself lacking an ingredient she was completely sure the base still had in stock-- it's an easy fix, but it'd certainly leave her rather flustered to admit. In dangerous situations, this 'frozen' quality can be quite treacherous.

Summary;

*[1] Being born to royal blood, to Duke Arlan of Vellenheim and his Wife, she was born an omen of prosperity for the two, however not much could be said for the twin sister she'd been born beside-- feathers grey, darkened like ash.

*[2-6] Odile's birth is announced to the public while her twin, Odette, is locked away in a tower, almost doomed to never see the light of the world again it'd seem-- Odile on the other hand, would begin growing up remarkably well yet something always beckoned her away, calling her to edges of their home she'd never seen.

*[7] While exploring she'd stumble across a tower she'd never been allowed before-- it didn't take much but swift flying and a bit of climbing to reach the insides, finding Odette.

* [8-11] Odile would spend her time with the girl, showing the ability of flight and even further filling Odette's head with stories of the rest of the castle-- confused about why this other child couldn't escape the tower. It'd only be a matter of time until she'd find out Odette's wings had been clipped, being pulled away from her.

* [12-15] Finding out her father's secret, that Odette was her sister, a bad omen... yet wouldn't stop her, she was the rebellious start of a teenager, even further she'd bring Odette trinkets, wing blades, and a crown much like her own! trying to reassure her sister of a life safe, known, and happy outside of the tower, overtime writing would begin to fascinate her.

* [16-20] Their lives would be simple... Odile found herself visiting Odette whenever there was time to get away, though there were times she'd be swept away through her father's works, learning proper manners and even schooling.

* [21] Odile'd introduce Odette to the public through strange, yet loving means... the day was hers, promised by their father in trade for an arranged marriage, inviting Odette to it. Except, instead of acceptance she only saw fear, horror, and betrayal-- the coup that'd seize the royal family was one they could only fall from, being washed into the waves away from each other.

* [21-Now] She was saved by a somewhat familiar face, a boy from the Callen family named Benno, who she'd latch onto desperately, fearing the worst for her dear sister... Benno promised to leave with her in search, truly an adventure. While out in Ethlovalon, they'd meet a man by the name of Kenji, and after some talking is invited into SW, accepting swiftly.

Full Backstory; Same TWs as before; stay safe!

The birth of twins is always a special moment, the rarity in and of itself is always a spectacle of whimsy for the world. Odile wouldn't have a clue she was born with a sister until far later... but the world would know in time. Odile Vellenheim was born to Duke Arlan and his beloved wife, being born with golden feathers that practically gave way to her bright future-- she was their pride and joy! Their very own miracle. The twin sister she'd be ripped apart from was nothing like herself, born with darkened feathers, black as the night that would dawn across her life, that very wayward sister was named Odette. Not long after birth, Odette would be put away from the rest of the world, and away from Odile herself, who instead was praised and announced to the public in grand means, a golden symbol of prosperity for the Vellenheim family legacy!

Despite the twisted fate of her sister, Odile would grow up rather happy! Exploring her father's home, chasing around knights that'd litter the hallways and even go as far as sneaking around as a toddler, every nook and cranny seemed to just be waiting for her to stick her tail feathers in. Even with this fondness for adventuring, she'd grow to adore literature at its finest... reading was never a chore, in fact, it was something of a reward for her to do in her free time as the girl would grow older. Though... something always would feel missing, incomplete, and lost in her average life.

It'd only take until Odile was seven to discover what truly was lost to her, discovering a tower she'd never been truly allowed into, maids would move her away from the building and even the knights would advise her to distance herself from the tower. With all of that in mind, she'd cast those warnings away and begin the climb to the top from the outside, using flight to drift between the gaps where the surface was far less suitable... only to be surprised, now face to face with another Ducklett!

At first, she'd simply assume this was one of the maid's daughters... maybe the reason she was not allowed inside was the fact this was housing for some other family?

Even with it in mind, it didn't take long for the two to exchange their hellos, finding out the ducklett's name was Odette. Even going as far as to introduce each other in a short span of time, they'd become each close friends... Odile racing up the tower day after day to meet with Odette, telling the other girl stories about her home, fantastical myths about the surrounding lands. It was nice to have another soul to talk to, even connect with.

Years would go on, the two meeting as Odile would try to show Odette the miracles of flight, even going as far as to try and lift the other ducklett with her own wings at such a young age, usually resulting in failure due to the fact she was still such a young duckling... the fact Odette was hidden away from the world would confuse her, wishing for escape for the ashen ducklett.

Escape was something Odette would never even gaze upon for years to come, the morning after one of their 'flight' lessons Odile was dragged away from the tower while merely being in the area... it'd only come to her knowing what'd transpired in that tower the night to come. Odette's wings had been clipped, irreversibly tarnished on her father's word because of Odile's wants for the other. The very thought brought disgust to her mind, even more so when Duke Arlan himself would explain to his daughter why it'd all had happened.

The missing piece of her all these years was her twin sister, banished to a tower all because of superstition on her parent's end. That the sweet darling sister of hers was to be the doom of them all, Odile had never felt a reason to be angry... this was the first time spiteful rage built up inside of her, swelling with the guilt of everything before her.

This rage would fuel the months to come, even at fifteen Odile would dive into a rebellious streak, yet never would never travel close to the tower due to the eyes on her, instead, she'd focus on her writing. Passionate retellings of events in a journal that'd become lost to time itself. The fuel to her fire would become obvious... meeting with scholars in her free time to learn a tighter grip on writing itself... it fascinated the deepest parts of her that such meaning could linger on something so simple as a page.

As months would come and go... guards would begin to trust Odile's judgment again, a mistake surely.

During the night to come, Odile would quietly pack a small bag before taking flight to the tower again, the tearful reunion to come was grand! She'd spend the night explaining everything she could to Odette... the grief that took over about the loss of such a defining trait as flight, offering gifts to the ducklett sister in the form of wing blades to match Odile's very own, and a crown to almost unify the two as sisters again after the years they'd been separated from each other.

The promise she made that night would stick with them both, explaining to Odette that one day she'd escape to the outside world, that freedom was inevitable! Break ritual and superstition at its core, and reveal the darkened ducklett to a brighter world. This promise would stick with them both, for better or for worse.

Life would continue on for both of the sisters, Odile continued her literary fascinations, taking on writing as a full-time hobby besides school work, swept away in her father's work. Despite the spite, she'd feel by simply hearing his voice, the more she learned to dabew beside him meant more leniency in her free time, meaning more time with Odette... fewer restrictions in movement. During this time she'd exchange gifts with Odette... the two sharing their nights giggling and dancing with one another, and soon Odile would get one of her most valued possessions, a hooded cloak-like scarf made by Odette made of colorful scrap cloth.

The simple item brought Odile more joy than the outside world gave her life, even though she had to explain to her father that it'd been a purchase from a local store instead of a gift, she cherished it. Eventually... Odile would learn of her father's plans for her, an arranged marriage barely around the brisk of turning 21, to another lord of the city. She barely knew of his appearance, personality, what his favorite color was... but the two would briskly exchange letters before the wedding, barely enough to know his name and intent.

This... the thought of an arranged marriage with this man simply made her stomach curl, turn, and knot. Odile barely knew him, and by simply worded letters it was obvious that outside of this marriage, she would not have had the intent to do such. It was not that he seemed to be a negative aura, hold nefarious intent, or even give an inkling of suspicion... simply put, it did not fit Odile's personal ideals of a partner, maybe they could be friends...? Would he accept that of her?-- She would never get her answer.

For Odile, the only benefit of this marriage was the plans she kept secret, Arlan would let the day be hers to control... and for that, she'd plan and plot with Odette, this would be the destruction ducklett's day in the sun, her dabew upon Vellenheim.

Letters would come to a halt as the wedding approached, the sisters would turn twenty-one years in counting, and a wedding was to be had, but the only thing to happen this day would be befallen with destruction like the Vellenheim family had never seen. Odile had planned to invite Odette as the only guest she truly wanted there, no one would be wiser to her sister's attendance. Leading Odette down the hallways was Odile, but when guests and onlookers alike saw the likes of Odette...

They were met with screaming, shouting, practically rallied together in a chorus against the beast in front of them being alive. That the Vellenheim family had let the very devil into their homes and hadn't been rid of it yet! Odile would attempt to cover her sister and explain that they should give her a chance, that omens and superstition were the darkness, not her sister. It'd only fall upon deaf ears as the coup that would seize the royal family began.

Taking Odette's hand they'd run, finding themselves cornered to a window in fear for Odette's life the pure ire being pointed at her would surely be the death of both of them if caught. They'd look to the watery depths below and it was then when Odile made the decision... pushing Odette out the window and jumping after the flightless ducklett herself, Odette becoming latched onto her legs in desperation as they glided down. The extreme measure was to save both of their lives as they plummeted into the ocean below, neither knowing how to swim.

Odile and Odette would be swept away from each other in the waves despite their desperation to stay close all the years prior, as Odile lost sight of her sister, she'd begin to struggle to stay afloat herself, screaming and thrashing about in hopes something, maybe Arceus itself would hear her... but it would be no god that'd save her.

A flash of feathered orange wings would be the savior of that'd come for Lady Odile, a man she'd never seen to be sure... and from his struggle, not prepared to be saving another life at the risk of his own. As they'd get to the shore though... Odile could only muster the energy to cry, coughing up whatever contents she'd absorbed from the sea, the world would go dark.

She'd awaken in a strange room, the loud yelling and screaming she heard from the outside reminding her what'd just occurred. Instead though... she'd find a man, Benno Cadel in front of her attempting to quiet down the noise and soothe her. Under the panicked influence, she'd cling to him for support, only to find him clinging to her back. The Cadel family was a familiar name... it was almost the only reason she truly knew this man had no intent of harming anyone, a notorious family practically raised with loyalty, she knew from meeting the family herself on occasion.

Benno and her would talk into the night in quiet whisper, telling him stories of what'd happened at Vellenheim, and in turn, listen to Benno's struggles as a knight. She'd feel for him... the innocence that was carried around the man was enough to show her, he was just as scared as her if not worse. Though, as the hours passed on Odile'd fall asleep due to fatigue, only to be startled awake when a rufflet would burst into the room.

At first, she feared the very worst-- worrying that he'd simply turn them both in, get them both slaughtered... but as the man would firmly tuck Benno into a tight hug, the grief-stricken worry that wrapped around the man's figure was enough to explain it all. This man was a victim of the coup, a knight inside the castle himself, and a brother to Benno. Though the reunion would not last long as the man she'd learn was named Valfrid would urge them to flee via boat, explaining he knew when the last one leaving the Feathered Ports was due.

It was quick, admittedly-- the discussion that'd lead her to run away with Benno, stow away on the ship that'd take them away in hopes of escaping successfully, but as they'd slowly drift away she'd pull one end of the scarf she'd been given by Odette so many years ago in promise to find her wayward sister again. Odette had to be alive, the woman she shared blood with was stronger than the binds that'd hid her away from birth. Even then, Benno and Odile would start their own adventure, drifting from place to place-- exploring nature and culture at its finest in search of something greater!

Ethovalon was their last stop almost a year later, Odile had begun searching for freelance work to help with their lifestyle, this time with a poet, a writer like herself. It wasn't them though that'd be the discovery of their lifetimes. Instead, it'd be a large man known as Kenji-- warm-hearted like the fire that wafted around his head, a slugma. Benno and he would almost immediately become fast, somewhat instant companions as they traveled through town! Somewhat suspicious... she kept away from him, observing the two... only to be dragged in by Kenji's puppy-like demeanor toward her, finding the slugma could not harm a fly.

It'd only be three days into staying when Kenji would childishly find the two and giddily extend the invite to them both to come to his bounty-hunting team... an odd profession, to be fair, but an honorable one! Benno could find his destiny as a knight, and Odile could help those in need, and find her missing piece. It'd only take some quiet back and force before they'd joining Scalding Waves, as new part of their hard-working family.
