Hilda's hat was one of her most prized possessions. Her dad gave it to her the day before he left to travel the continent. He'd met Hilda's mom while roaming Melauvira and settled down to start a family, but even after Hilda was born he couldn't quash his restless spirit. Hilda was barely old enough to remember the day when he left. She heard her parent's angry voices and when she looked to see what was happening he was standing in the doorway his bags packed. He told her he was just going on a trip and promised he was going to be back. He put the hat he always wore on her head, asked her to keep an eye on it until he came back.
He still hasn't come back yet- but Hilda still held onto it.
She had to keep her promise.
