Description Color coded for your convenience!
Far top left: Basic shapes that comprise a bird wing. Knowing these will help you drawn wings in any positions.
(Better image of bird wing anatomy; media.tumblr.com/tumblr_luxu0e… )

Red: First rough sketch, just the basic shapes of the bird wing. Use this stage to draw the wing in the position you want it. Drawing the overlaps will help you draw the sections of the wing later.

Green: Primary sketch. Note how the separation lines attach the points at which the basic shapes of the outer two main sections of wing intersect.

Blue: This is where you divide the feathers into all the smaller section. The Alula and the Marginal Coverts show where the actual "arm" part of the wing goes. The Primary Coverts form a rather straight line. Also while the Marginal Coverts get thicker when they head towards the body, the Secondary Coverts thin out. Don't forget to smooth out the point the Alula and Marginal Coverts Connect. Also, the inward feathers are smaller than the outward.

(OPTIONAL) Black: Drawing lines for where the feathers will go. This is optional because as you practice more it may be more convenient to just straight out draw the feathers. Note how the Marginal Coverts have three subsections, which you should probably refrain from until you are more comfortable with drawing wings. Also the inward Scapular feathers are smaller than the outward.

Orange: Final sketch! This is where you draw the feathers out in detail. Note that the inward feathers are overlapping the outward feathers. Now you can start refining it into a finished piece or leave it as is.

FINAL NOTES:
-This is just a simple generic wing. If you want to capture the wings of a specific bird, try finding a picture of that bird's wing and studying how it is composed. The best way to represent an animal is to look at photos of it or if you can, seeing the actual animal.
-Practice makes perfect! The more you draw wings the easier it will be. Once you become proficient in drawing wings in generic ways, you can branch out into new, more complex ways.
-Learning how to draw realistically won't just help you do that. It'll also help you draw in more stylized ways, because you will gain an new understanding of the object you want to draw.
