[You are a couple of yards shy when the light dims out again, but the man has his back to you and appears to be lost in his own thoughts.]

[Capitalizing on his carelessness, you lunge towards the Tributesman and sink your fangs into his uncovered right arm.]

[To your horror, he reacts with a sudden, inhuman efficiency to your ambush as he nearly instantly frees himself from your bite and draws a shotgun.]

[His complete lack of hesitation catches you off guard, and, being unarmored, you realize the dreadful reality that a blast at this range will be lethal.]

[The next few moments feel like an eternity. You take in every grueling detail as he painstakingly raises his firearm towards you.]

[The Tributesman is a Hainvull dressed in strange garb and gear. There is an Aezl marking on the right of his face, and his jaw is malformed to the left. His eyes are void of any anger or pity for you, only a raw and intense focus.]

[It's a sickening glare. You almost wish he'd just hurry and shoot you if it meant never having to see his hideous visage again.]

[No such luck however as it feels like a hundred yearcasts have passed and you remain sadly unshot.]

[In fact the Tributesman hasn't even fully raised his arm yet.]

[...he doesn't seem to even be able to do so...]

[In your little bout of fear you have forgotten something painfully obvious.]

[You are Saggiudah. The most venomous clan of Venehlok in all of the Daylands.]

[Paralysis caused by your bite slowly overtakes his right arm as he involuntarily drops his shotgun.]

[He stumbles back in mild confusion, but quickly recovers and grabs a crudely made poleaxe of sorts.]

[Such a large weapon will be difficult for him to wield in close quarters and even harder single-handed.]

[Additionally you are no stranger to bladed weapons fighting and speculate that your chances in Hand-to-Hand against him might be favorable.]

[However, even partly paralyzed this man is an unknown to you. His reaction to your first bite was a little more than startling.]

[His shotgun now lies between the two of you. You could leap for it, but if you are clumsy you might end up eating that axe for your trouble.]
