“Wait… I need a minute… My entire pelvis hurts...”, said Sparrow as she bent over and leaned up against a pillar in an unused part of the subway system. With much of their powers lost, they could no longer take flight and had to walk to a safe location. The safest option was to avoid any criminal hotspots and stay out of the public eye, as they feared what the news of their loss of powers would mean to the safety of the city.

So long as criminals thought everything was okay, the city and its protectors enjoyed some degree of safety, but if it got out, the heroines and heroes would almost certainly be hunted down constantly.

“Do you think it’s just us…?”, asked Sparrow referencing their dire situation, “Or do you think others might have lost their powers too?”

“It’s safe here, I think. Take your time and rest up. We’ll move on once you’ve caught your breath.”, replied White Owl. “I don’t think we’re the only ones affected by this… I mean, we can’t be, right? What kind of machine or magic could target us and only us? I just wonder if the criminals have lost their powers too…. I would not want to meet a metahuman criminal right now. Just the thought of what they’d do to us having complete control, and we’d be powerless to stop them Oh boy.”

White Owl was fairly convinced that others were in the same situation, which at least gave her some comfort, but she shuddered at the thought of what a superpowered criminal could and would do to her if they were to meet someone in their current state.
