Description
"The Minimi is a Belgian-made squad automatic weapon that fires the NATO standard 5.56x45mm round, although a 7.62 x 51mm NATO variant exists. Though it's usually fed from 200-round plastic drums, or 100- or 200-round cloth drums, the weapon is capable of accepting STANAG 4179 magazines. The weapon was adopted by the US Army and Marine Corps as the M249, replacing the M60 in most roles.

The name of this weapon was changed from "FN Minimi" to "FM Mitrail" on January 24th, 2010."
