I've been trying for so long to find a good enough giraffe photo to get tattooed, for both my father and I. But I can't find what I'm looking for. I want one giraffe, full body shot, facing front, but slightly sideways, head straight forward. The closest one I could find looks like this [link] but I really want a better photo for the tattoo artist.
Well I've given up on it, but searching for the perfect shot I did find a painting by someone that interested me, very simple design. I don't know where it came from or who did it and I lost the picture of it, but it still stayed in my head and I drew it myself with minor alterations. I need to fix the horn (is that what they're called) and clean it up a bit, but this will be going on my left outer calf.
The story behind it comes from a letter my father wrote me for my 17th birthday, 2 months after my mother died from cancer. He wrote to me about the day or two before she died, she had pointed to the ceiling and said "Look, a giraffe!" (she was on a lot of morphine) she said, "Whenever you see a giraffe think of me, and know that I love you."
So my father and I both agreed we would get one tattooed on us - that was nearly 5 years ago. I think i should remind him of that and we should both get one done on the anniversary.
Anyway, if anyone can find a photo how I described, and draw a giraffe in a lifelike way, or can help me with my simpler version, please help me out.
