Donestre were a legendary lion-headed humanoid race of monsters whose earliest account of their existence coming from the time when Alexander the Great ruled over ancient Greece.
Donestre were infamous for their contradictory behavior. You see Donestres are said to befriend travelers from other lands by using the ability to mimic any human langruage. After the Donestre befriends the traveler they are said to devour the traveler leaving only a decapitated head that the Donestre would then sit by and mourn the loss of their friend.
Donestre are one of many legendary humanoid monsters that likely are the result of exaggerated tales by explorers of exotic animals, foreign cultures, medical oddities, in addition they were likely symbolism for social and religious wrongs.

My Created Lore & Info

As far as it goes with my original lore for my version of Donestre I don’t have much figured out as of time of writing but heres what I got figured out.
Donestre are lineage wise despite their feline like facial appearance are closer to canines. Their placement in the canine family tree plus their bipedal nature are both requirements to classify Donestres as what I call Canid Folk. For Canid folk Donestre are among the largest standing 12ft/4m in height that's taller than the top of a one story building. Donestre’s intelligence is on the level of the like of Neanderthals or as smart as an early homo sapiens.
Even though Donestres possess human level intelligence they seemingly avoid forming civilizations. On top of their raw smarts another reason you think Donestre would be able to form society but despite that they choose to live solitary lives. Donestre form solo territories with males covering an area that overlaps with at least the borders of three females. Male Donestre home territories size ranges from 60 to 100 square kilometers . Females home ranges from 15 to 25 kilometers, many female territories can have coverage with one male.
Donestre’s display a behavioral tendency that's rather odd. That is Donestre commonly adopt animals usually young grazers like deer and goats keeping them for all intensive purposes hostage not letting them wander far from the animals captor. One possible evolutionary reason for this odd behavior is that often when Donestres keep captives the panic cries made by the captive animal combined with the fact that Donestre for their size are very quiet make for a natural trap. With the cries drawing smaller predators who then upon attempting to make a meal of the Donestre captive only to find themselves prey of the Donestre.
In my future earth which is called Tera Prime Donestre are native to the all most any of the desert and planes type habitats among the continent of Aurapp. In the before mentioned areas of Aurapp Donestre are prominitly wild but few Donestre have actually been raised as companions to some of the more civilized races,

Not the proudest of my drawing of a Donestre in fact I am happier with my Donestre Spore creation. I can’t remember why I decided despite the real life lore of Donestre as specifically lion headed I classified my Donestre as a type of canid folk.
As of time of writing I going to some art classes. I was never other than in high school taught the basics of art. I however don’t expect miracles overnight plus the cryptid drawings I have been posting are from the past with this one being from 2022 and the metroid drawings I started roughly around the end of 2022. So it will be awhile before you peeps see the result of my tutelage.The next post is another Metroid creature and will be up on either the 3rd or 4th of April
