A drawing I did back in 2021...

I used a couple of photos from a wildlife book as reference images for this piece. I was having trouble with the body shape at first so I made a few thumbnail sketches. Once understood the subject a little better, I lightly drew the overall shape with a mechanical pencil. Then I put in the details. God...those feathers took FOREVER! After this I could define the shade values with various graphite pencils. I used an ink fineliner to make the border and lettering.

I kind of wanted to make it look like a scientific "study", so I wrote the scientific name of the bird. The thing that bugs me is the wings dont have any motion. They look still and fake. I should have made them a little blurry. Anywho it's too late now. I got it behind glass for protection.
