Give me good, ol' fashion OD Green, baggy-assed BDU's any day... or the old Vietnam issue Tiger Stripe cammo and Jungle Boots...
There's an old SWAT set for Aiko 3 that works wonderfully well for proper Vietnam era combat fatigues (or more modern ones too) with a quick repaint, though you'd have to convert it for M4 or the other figures in Cross Dresser or Wardrobe Wizard...

Lol agreed. But I want something for noncombat scenes as well lol. Not always going to have in the field unis. Here is quick and dirty with nothing but a slightly off shader.

Yeah, that'd work well for a basic Navy or Army day uniform...

Just what I was thinking. Only reason I bought it lol. The other one is easier to texture but looks a little to rumpled for what I want. Luthbel does excellent work but has tendency for the rough field look. Already worked up a fit for a skirt for the females as well . Now have to figure out how to get the epaulets to fit on it and stay. That would be a simple prop to make. Problem I have had is getting them to fit and stay where I want them.

Rumpled works though... I mean even a nice relatively maintained day uniform gets pretty rumpled looking after a day of long duty... and in a constant use environment like ship-board in a war zone they just don't get pressed or shined as often as reg's say they should. Most officers start looking a little rumpled after a while unless they're back behind the lines (damned REMF's) or meeting with the brass... or if you have a real stickler for the reg's, but in a war zone those are the officers that tend to get fragged...

Probably why I will convert both. The second one also has the vest you would see on a bridge and such at battle stations like in the old WWII movies. The covers are almost right but someone else did a better one to use for that with the right badges already and has the berets as well.

Well I figure they can be parented to any figure. I mean they are hats not clothing. I can understand your feelings about Genesis. Thing is I have always loved its versatility. But that is just me.

Well some of the stuff would be decent except they keep trying to make it look realistic. Then some of it just looks stupid. right now hoping I am not missing my Wildcat textures and templates grr

theschell In reply to Noshoba [2017-07-15 18:04:00 +0000 UTC]
I made mine very much anime styled... that realism problem has been my complaint about everything released for every "Anime" figure DAZ has ever put out, always stuff to make them realistic... which kinda defeats the whole point of making an "Anime"/toon figure in the first place...

Noshoba In reply to theschell [2017-07-16 00:24:31 +0000 UTC]
Well Daz is not the only guilty party in the market. Almost none of them can get it right. The biggest annoyance is all the so called anime hair out there that is fiber mesh.

Well I can get the skins to look sort of right if willing to go with the figurine style look. Ahh but the hair that will be a pernanent grrr moment

That figurine look is why I usually render my anime girl the way I do, with that plastic sort of sheen...

Noshoba In reply to theschell [2017-07-18 22:12:34 +0000 UTC]
Honestly if I could get a good outline shader I would do the coloring myself. I do wish Goldtassel would do something other than fibermesh hair. Most of his styles fit the genre but the fibermesh adds too much detail.

theschell In reply to Noshoba [2017-07-19 18:01:28 +0000 UTC]
Depends on the Anime style you're going for. If you're trying for the 80's styles then less detail is good... but if you're going for the more modern styles then detailed hair is more common...

Noshoba In reply to theschell [2017-07-20 01:03:03 +0000 UTC]
True. But more likely to be seen detailed with gradients. But seem to be coming up with something that works. Nice to see one vendor over at Rendo finally put out the matching male versions of one of his sets. Will make things alot easier

The new Appleseed movies are a good example... the ones that came out around 2005... all computer animated and the hair was much more detailed than was normal before then, the newer parts of the Ghost In the Shell series as well...

All ones on my favorites lists. Although watching World End from this season did a good job of nailing me in the gut for well told story vs the usual perv stuff for young male hormones that has been coming out lately. They nailed it with using Scarborough Fair as the first song you hear and the very last song played in the anime. If you give it a shot ignore the description. Only one that actually hit the mark was the one on Kissanime.

It needs the psychological tag and tragedy.
Part of the reason I haven't been on. Ended up binge watching it and hits like Clannad but with a war theme.
Oh also caught my truck bed on fire today as well lol

How in the heck did you manage to burn your truck bed?

Noshoba In reply to theschell [2017-07-26 22:46:56 +0000 UTC]
True. Been hoping for some new ships lol. And I have been trying to get that render look I want along with working too much.
As for the truck, well I have been spring cleaning , remodeling my apartment. So back bed of my truck was full of boxes and trash that had not had a chance to take to drop point for large items. I think I accidently tossed a still lit cigarette in the bad. When I came back out from taking groceries in to go to drop place it was in flames. Grabbed the gas can out and start tossing buckets of water on it. Almost had it out before the firetrucks showed up

Yikes... sorry to hear that.
I've been working on a tile-able terrains set and jungle/fantasy vegitation props for the last little while. I did put out WW2 and Vietnam era "Crook-neck" flashlights that are set up as add-on items for Panko's Vietnam Web-gear, and I just released a PRC-25 Radio Pack to go with his gear as well... they're over at VanishingPoint if you want them...

I will look into them my friend. You know it is really annoying when something designed for one figure fits better on one that it wasn't even designed for.

when i was growing up on Misawa AFB it came on at 330pm and i would rush home it was subtitled by Armed forces network but for me growing up speaking Japanese subtitles didn't matter!
sorry to say i never got into Robotech
just the fact Mari Iijima's voice was dobbed over and fake music put in place only made me angrier as a child into adulthood!
Mari-chan's beautiful voice was also heard in another anime called Mrs Pepperpots
she did the opening and ending theme for the series!
Macross and Mari-chan always took me back to a magical time in my life living on USAF bases!
