Description    They were an extinct order of aquatic arthropods that lived from the middle Cambrian period Guzhangian epoch to the end Ordovician Katian epoch. They have been found in North America, Europe, Australia, and China. Originally considered a type of chelicerate, more recent and thorough anatomical analysis it was found they were closer to Trilobites and part of the Artiopoda grouping. The order contains two families; the Aglaspididae and Tremaglaspididae. Which are distinguished by a long spiniform tailspine and the presence of acute/spinose genal angles.
