Here's another speculative evolution thing that I made for a Mu challenge thing going on. It's basically like the atlantis speculative challenge but in the pacific. A slightly different cast of lifeforms too. I hope to do one more but it's unlikely.
Quick rundown here are some derived earwig concepts that I made in a flurry of inspiration. They inhabit a wide range of habitats. The Tail Wig and Running Wigs prefer the more arid areas. The Running Wigs chase down prey in a nature akin to tiger beetles. While the Tail wig uses a modified tail to capture prey and then kill it with their jaws.
While the Reaper-Wig and Bush-Wig do require some level of shrubbery to hunt. Both have developed raptorial arms for the catching of prey. Reaperwigs prefer hunting in the canopy of tropical and subtropical rainforests while Bushwigs prefer hunting in the understory and can tolerate drier more open woodlands.
The Mer-Wig are small generalist predators lives in small streams and ponds hunting smaller animals like insects and worms and have a modified tail and legs to help them swim.. All reproduce in a fairly similar manner to their more standard ancestors and produce a number of offspring which the female looks after until their second molt after which point they go off on their own.
