Description So! This was originally supposed to use a predetermined limited palette but I didn't like how it was coming so I redid the colours. That's where his cape went, sacrificed to reduce the number of colours (I totally forgot his little rope was also red) and also because I didn't want to draw it.
I hate this guys hair, it's very shojo and I'm not sure how to render it. I will admit that I'm more comfortable drawing shorter hair then I am longer hair so at least he's got that going for him. Also his bangs are the same as Anthy's and they're a really fun bunch of shapes for both of 'em. Now that I think about it Akio has a less fluffy version and Saionji's bangs are sometimes a similar but longer shape so maybe thats just how the series aesthetic always renders wavy/curly bangs?
My continuing indecision on whether or not the shoulder cords are braided or like... some kind of fabric (I think of it as velvet) tube is on display here. I think there's like two pieces of official art where it's braided and I've run with that, I can't even remember who that official art is of, I just draw it braided sometimes. The epaulettes are also a thing where I deviate from what they probably really are. Like if I'm being honest the dangly bits are probably also fabric tubes, probably also a velvet type fabric, but I think I saw them drawn as like... tightly coiled fiber once and I just ran with it.

I recently got a new computer (Well it's second hand but it's new to me) and this piece was to make sure everything was working the way I like and getting my programs set up the way I prefer them to be. It'll probably be a few more pieces before I'm happy with how I have things set up, in part because I need to acquaint myself with the new machine. This piece is sort of quick and messy because it's just a test but y'know, I like how it turned out.
