I was looking at some colour palettes hoping my Ao3 invite would come in so I could keep track of the ongoing fics I'm reading (it has not yet come in) and when I saw this one I wanted to do something with it, it just so happens that it overlapped very nicely with Sypha's colour palette. Also I love Sypha and I've been meaning to draw something for her for a while now.
Urg, I've gotta force myself to draw more real backgrounds as much as I like these kind of framed backings that are very clearly secondary to the character just doing the same thing over and over is not going to help me develop any new skills. Architecture and room design is hard though, I don't like doing things I'm really bad at because it's frustrating... I'm whining, it's probably best to cut myself short here.

Anyway, not anything super new here, my choice of pose is a little different then I typically go with. I'n my minds eye it was less soft and a little more like she's sharply turning on the viewer but I guess picking a soft colour palette was a bad idea if that was the feeling I wanted to convey. She came out very soft and warm, it's not necessarily what I set out to do but it's still good. Using a limited palette and no line art made it an enjoyable challenge to make her various layers stand out from each other. I think the actual difference in tone was a little to minimal to make things look really good but at least I had warm and cools to work with.
