Description Derelict's Log J3.005:

I ventured into some of the ruins today.

I think I'm pretty lucky, since I stumbled upon an old rucksack with some pencils, a medkit, ammo, and some canned goods in it. Things are looking up, I'll probably be able to get out of this place soon.  I'd be glad to see more than just sand and the burned out husks of forgotton machinery...

...I don't think I'm alone. I feel like I'm being watched, especially near the ruins. I keep catching glimpses of these phantoms in the corner of my vision. As soon as I look at one, it disappears around a corner. I tried chasing one of these apparitions but was just met with empty sand. NOTHING was there. No scratches, no trash, nothing. Not even footprints! I've been out here by myself for months, so I'm glad for the company, but it just seems so...  unnerving.

The ruins stand above me, quiet and somber.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Something's not right. I could've sworn I left my armor in the tent.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I'm glad I found that medkit earlier. Dissapointed I've got to use it this soon.

Good news is that I figured out what those "apparitions" from earlier were. Turns out they're, sorry, it (as in one) is friendly. -ish.

When I approached my tent, I heard scuffling from a nearby rock. I whipped around to see one of its "apparitions" darting out from behind a rock - without casting a shadow. Seeing this, I whipped around and saw the "real" one bolting from my tent. I pulled out my knife and slowly walked towards it, trying to get one of my arm bracers back. It set my arm bracer down and shuffled away.

For having been alone for months, I'm glad the first thing I met didn't outright try to kill me. It was pretty fast and a bit skittish when I first approached it, or at least when I approached the one with a shadow. This "thing" (whatever it is) seems to be a wanderer like me. It doesn't seem to have an outright purpose. Wonder if it got lost from a hive or a pack of sorts. It didn't eat anything when I offered it food, Just stared blankly at me when I tryed calling out to it.

When I got closer, it probably felt cornered and scratched me with the razor-sharp blades it has for hands. Hurt like hell.

Whatever this thing is, its developed a way to keep itself safe. It can create clones of itself - or maybe projections? - and distract a threat while it escapes or studies or whatever it does. I seems biomechanical in nature, with a weird mismatch of wires and metal sticking out across its body.  Seems almost like it was manufactured to be like this. The weirdest part about it was that the its entire body was see-through. In the right light, I would say that it would be nearly invisible when still. I don't feel all that safe knowing that this thing could be around the next rock or husk and I wouldn't even know. Sure am glad it ran off when I shot a round in the air. I probably wouldn't be writing this if I hadn't scared it off.

As for my armor, I found it outside on the ground by my tent. I think the "thing" was trying to eat it. I far as I could tell, the "thing" spit acid of some kind onto my armor and then sucked up whatever was left.

It doesn't seem overtly hostile, but with the way the world is these days, it's better to be safe rather than sorry. Loneliness has its perks.

Author's Note:
A group I'm in decided to have a challenge using a prompt to design a character based off of a Kee-Wakw using certain colors and character traits.
Took ~1 hour in Clip Studio Paint
