Powers/Abilities: Launch Shell is able to produce spikes from his mouth and fire them as projectiles. These spikes are tipped with a cerebral impairing toxin that, when used on objects, are completely harmless and behave much in the same manner as arrows fired from a bow. When used on living organisms however, the venom directly affects the portions of the cerebral cortex, premotor cortex, and the formation of cell assemblies; in short, it completely reduces the functionality of the mind down to the brainstem, reducing intelligence.

Peptidal Glup possess a large, single foot with rudimentary pseudopods that enable them to float on the surface of water and 'surf' to get around.

Peptidal Glup possess gills and are able to breath underwater.

Like snails, Launch Shell produces a sticky mucus that enables him to climb vertical surfaces.

A Peptidal Glup's eyestalks grant them a wider field of vision than a human.

Launch Shell can withdraw his squishy body into protective shell when necessary. This shell is quite sturdy and is able to withstand tremendous impact force, such as falling from atop a skyscraper.

Weaknesses: Launch Shell must stay moist in order to keep breathing, otherwise he will suffocate. This prevents him from entering or withstanding scorching temperatures or locations for significant periods of time.

Peptidal Glup are highly vulnerable to large amounts of pure salt, as it can hastily dry out their bodies.

Launch Shell isn't very large and can thus be overpowered by more physically adept species, such as Appoplexians and Incurseans. He is in no way suited for combat.

Etymology: Launch Shell's name is a play on the words "conch shell" and "launch", referring to his snail-like appearance and his ammunition-like qualities.

Trivia: The species name is derived from peptides, the main component of cone snail venom, and "tidal", which means pertaining, related, or subjected to the tides. "Glup" is the Bosnian word for 'dumb', referencing the effects of the species' spikes.

The species' home world is a play on the word "Pisces", which means fish, and the Greek word "prota", which means first.

Much like Stinkfly, Gwen thinks that Launch Shell is disgusting. Because of this, as well his intelligence-dampening abilities, Ben actually likes him, though admits that he is "completely useless in a fight".

Piscciss Prota is large moon orbiting an even bigger gas giant whose surface is dominated by oceans. With only two small continents and hundreds of islands and archipelagoes, most of the native life forms are semi-aquatic or entirely marine in nature, relying on bountiful harvest of the briny depths in order to survive.

Peptidal Glup are a primitive, anti-social species that don't take kindly to the presence of others. Preferring to live in solitude, they utilize a special gland in their bodies that modifies their sticky slime to become waterproof. Using this, they construct nests out of aquatic vegetation that float on the on the water's surface, but are anchored to the bottom by thick strands of this slime. These nests are usually located at the center of their territories, and they will aggressively defend both if they even think anyone may be encroaching on them.

Peptidal Glup are located quite low on the food chain and initially developed their intelligence-dampening venom to defend themselves. Predators, such as Lutri shellslurpers, carnasseels, and even Pisccissian Magnodon, that attack them and are thus assaulted by their spikes completely forget about attacking them and aimlessly bumble around the ocean in blind stupidity for about an hour before the toxins are eventually flushed out of their systems.

Peptidal Glup share their home world with several other intelligent species, namely the Piscciss Premann and the Nasalpedians. The three species tend to avoid one another, largely due to the Glup's preference for solitude and unwillingness to interact with them. The Piscciss Premann however, with their protective carapaces and powerful claws, consider them a delicacy and readily crack open their shells to feast upon them.
