Description
I honestly love the Superhero Fantasy. Out of all the modern genres, it's one of the most ample ones. And DC's Trinity really embodies a lot of what the genre as a fantasy on itself can accomplish. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are some of the best, if not the best superheroes of all time.Of course, just like my previous "Superwoman" project, I decided to give it a more feminine spin. So, now it's Superwoman, Batwoman and Wonder Woman. I think I've been working on this one since the year started. So, fittingly enough, I got to finish and publish it by the year's third month. Each row is an age on itself, and each trio is a common moment. Here they are:
First row is the Golden Age, the origins. The first trio are they designs from Action Comics #1, Detective Comics #27 and Sensation Comics #1. The second trio is their more recognizable designs from most of the Golden Age, although trading Superwoman's comics design from the one from the Fleischer Cartoons. And closing the row, it's the live-action designs from Christopher Reeve, Adam West and Lynda Carter.
Second row is the post-Crisis Age, the beginning of their current versions. So, we start with their designs from Man of Steel, Batman: Year One and Wonder Woman vol. 2, by John Byrne, David Mazzucchelli and George Pérez respectively. Next, are the designs that followed through, by Dan Jurgens, Neal Adams and Kevin Maguire. Thirdly, their Dark Age moments, The Death and Return of Superman, Batman: Knightfall and Wonder Woman: The Contest, along their following sagas of Hunter/Prey, Troika and John Byrne's Wonder Woman.
Third row is the Modern Age, or to be more accurate, the age where I started reading comics and met them as characters. So, I started with a blend of the designs from the DCAU and Ed McGuinness' art from JLA: Classified. Next, it's Jim Lee's style, also mixing ideas from Superman: For Tomorrow, Batman: Hush and Infinite Crisis. And at the end, their designs right before Flashpoint hit, so New Krypton, Batman Inc. and Odyssey.
Fourth row is from the New 52 to Rebirth. First, their "flash-back" designs, mixing and matching ideas from the actual comics, and some personal bits. Second, the New 52 designs (again by Jim Lee), but streamlined because I'm not gonna draw a dozen lines, and Wonder Woman keeps the design from the promo art because I liked fare more than what we actually got. And closing, the Rebirth designs; Superman Reborn by Pat Gleason, Batman: Superheavy by Greg Capullo and Wonder Woman: Year One by Tony Daniel.
And at the end, a group of friends who may or may not be involved in this whole situation; investigative reporter Claire Kent, billionaire daredevil Bryce Wayne and social activist Diana Prinkípissa.
Maybe down the month I'll add more versions, like Stan Lee's versions, Kingdom Come, Earth-3 or from Justice League Action. Hell, maybe even try my had at designs of my own. Anyhow, hope you liked them as much as I liked drawing. Take care and see you next time.
