Description
Critically Endangered Scottish WildcatThere are said to be less than 100 individuals left in the wilds of Scotland, and they could be extinct as soon as next year.
I've had the pleasure of hand feeding a wildcat, almost having my face swatted by her deadly claws as she pounced for her meal. It's sad to hear that domestic cats are one of the reasons that the Scottish wildcat is critically endangered, due to the fact that they are interbreeding with wild individuals, and in doing so are depleting the pure wildcat gene.

It is sad to think such a wonderfully designed predator could be extinct by next year and yet we hear very little of their plight. The photo is wonderful with a great focus and it sounds as if hand feeding them is quite the experience.
