When a predator looks you right in the eyes the way this beauty does.....it should tell you something. Apparently I was blocking his view which annoyed him Big Time and his loud roaring should have ringed a bell.But I only understood it until he took a run-up, jumped in the water that was supposed to separate tigers from humans and approached me at only half a meter, with only a small grid in between us.
My heart never beat so fast and I never jumped so high.
Believe me..such a huge predator coming at you this way.....you'll never forget.

Reminds me of when my little brother was making noises near the cheetah.. the cat looked at us and stood, so we ran...even though we were far away from her. She looked mad! heh

I've had a very simmilar situation once, shame I haven't had my camera with me..
In zoo in Viena Lions are separated from people by very wide spread bars. Just enought for a Lion's paw

It was asleep not knowing (or maybe?
I don't know what was I thinking, probably wanted to touch his mane or do something simmilary stupid, but when I tried to reach him, he suddenly woke up, turned and jumped on the bars, roaring at me.
I think that I've never jumped/crouched/felt back that fast in my life
There were few people around, so I did not atract a crowd, but I could see everyone pointing at me talking how stupid I am 
That was one of these "never to be repeated" experiences.
No matter how cute and cuddly Lions look like - they ARE dangerous animals

Funny that you mentioned it being one of my best shots.... Regarding the quality I doubt it, I have better focused pictures. but: I love the frozen action, a complete story in just one frame and this is absolutely one of my dearest photos.

Focusing could have been better indeed, but there is something in tiger's eyes and the frozen action that makes this photograph really captivating. Techinque is important but it won't create an interesting image without creativity and ability to catch the right moment
